Dead or Alive 6: Dead On Arrival

Am I the only fighting game fanatic that thinks that it is weird that to make Dead Or Alive 6 more “politically correct” and “toning down the sexy” but instead they decided to add visual battery indicators with damage and blood effects? So basically it is okay to beat the ever living shit out of these girls, but don’t you dare ogle their jiggly breasts! But I have to congratulate the puerile SJW movement in the video game industry. You pushed a well known Japanese developers to “westernize” their games. This is the ultimate form of cultural appropriation forcing Japanese game developers to capitulate to your western demands.

Its gameplay and visuals are no better than any other fighter that is new. In fighting games, you need a catch to draw gamers in, without that catch you are a simple just another forgettable fighter. Imagine Mortal Kombat without any blood/gore/fatalities. If that happened? Absolutely no one would buy it. So if your games catch is big bouncing boobs and you ditch it, I wonder what would happen. Eroticism and the over the top, goofy aspect of the Dead or Alive franchise is what gave it personality. And the irony of it all, people who hated the Dead or Alive franchise before still won’t buy it now that they made this change, and existing fans don’t like that the game is changing drastically.

So, who will buy this game? “Toning down the sexual expression doesn’t relate to esports. It’s more of a world trend. We’re considering how to make this franchise well-received everywhere.” That single quote from Yohei Shimbori director at Team Ninja is going to be the nail in the coffin for this entry into the franchise. Meanwhile, the new Soul Calibur has sexy outfits AND Geralt of Rivia and looks awesome! Soul Calibur looks amazing at this point, they are bringing back the old favorites and keeping them sexy.
