Here, I am going to be reviewing Shadow fight 2. This is a martial arts game developed and published by Nekki. Shadow fight 2 is a game based on fighting between silhouettes. The strory line is that of a legendary warrior who got bored and decided to look for other equally good warrior to challenge to epic fights.

Is it just me or is every martial arts person we read about always eager to find someone good enough to beat them except Jackie Chan? Maybe it’s something that comes along with learning martial arts. Haha

I digress! Back to the storyline. This legendary fighter whose name we still do not know goes about on his horse searching for a worthy opponent till stumbles on a gate of shadows. Being the obnoxious brute he is, he goes against the elders rules and he opens the gate. As he does this, the shadows in there rushed upon him somehow tears his flesh away and his soul until he’s just a shadow.So, automatically, he is cursed to go about the world looking For the escaped shadows and battling with them to capture them again.

“What’s the moral lesson here kids? Listen to the rules the elders give…….any rule that has anything to do with shadows.”

The game opens with a very dramatic animated play that is visually pleasing and spikes up the necessary adrenaline needed to play this game. By the way, Here’s what shadow has to say in his intro as he summarizes what happened to him ;

Once I was a great invisible warrior and no one dared to stand in my way. I travelled the land searching for a worthy battle. Until I discovered the gates of shadows. I broke the laws of the elders and opened the gates. The demons of the other world were beyond them. They rushed upon me, tearing my flesh, draining my soul, turning me into a shadow. And now for eternity, I am doomed to wander the world and fight the demons I freed.

And then comes the beginning of the whole action in the game. Shadow is a loner until he meets with his Sensei which is just a character that trains players in the basics of the game. After getting a few basic training from his Sensei, Shadow meets with May who is a blacksmith and she offers her help and assist through out the game.

PLOT

Shadow is to fight and defeat six demon lords in the cities they are lording over in order to send them back beyond the gate.

Lynx - Hero reborn
Hermi - Secret path
Butcher - Trail of blood
Wasp - Pirate throne
Widow - Widow
Shogun - Shogun

For every single demon lord, Shadow has to defeat their body guards in one on one fight. Difficult fights as Shadow will start his fights as an unarmed person and will find thing hard. Along the line he will amass strong weapons for himself.

“I have not played this to the end but according to what I heard, after shadow defeats the last Demon lord SHOGUN he will become human again as he shuts the gate of shadows against them.

OPINION : The plot of this game is something we rarely see in movies and it’s amusing as well as interesting. I love it and a lot of people think so too.

GAMEPLAY

This is a game based on silhouettes in 2D. And no…. if you have not played it, It does not look like stickman archer. Its way cooler… much more cooler. These silhouettes look like real and actual human forms and respond to hits the same way a human will. Imagine a full human standing and imagine the whole figure is shadow. The figures are realistic and according to physics.

Shadow fight 2 is a game that requires players to win two of three fight rounds with individual demons and shadows that are controlled by AI. You are allowed to lose the first round but any other loss in the second round will mean defeat. So If beaten in the first round, players must win the second round in order to win the third and last round.

However, Shadow is without any weapon or armor by as the game progresses, he accumulates weapons, armor and magic. These abilities and power ups are upgrade-able in this game.

Players can play five matches before their energy bar is depleted. This energy bar can be refilled by either waiting until the energy bar refills itself over time or paying real life money or watching ads. And again, NO! It’s not like Assassin 3D where the energy bar never refills itself even after the developers ask you to wait

The reward system of the game is based on gold. Gold coins are earned after each fight and they can be used to by new weapons and upgrade weapons, skills, armor and magic.

SEQUEL

The sequel of Shadow fight has been released and as expected its Shadow fight 3.

One beautiful thing about Shadow fight 3 is that you will be playing against online users in the game and you climb ranks along. While this might seem to consume a lot of data, it actually does not. This sequel also has a very interesting dramatic play before the main game interface. I’d strongly implore Nekki to go into making animation movies.
