RE: [Thinking While Gaming] The Three Ironies of The Assassins' Creed
Hmmm. I haven't played much of the AC series (except AC III, which I found horrendously buggy, and the setting isn't really my cup of tea.) After reading this though, I might have to reconsider. I've heard nothing but good about them, but if they have a deeper philosophical presentation, it might just be worth playing.
The games don't focus that much on the philosocal side of them... it's just that when you look at the series as whole not single game by game you'll find these things.
Most of the philosophical side of Assassin Creed is written in in-game documents, and in Altair codex case, a side quest of Assassin Creed II... Ezio's story in Assassin Creed Revelation is about him learning the past and finding the truth. it's the best game in the series for me. (Haven't played anything after Rouge yet)
Anyway, I didn't like Assassin Creed III that much... It has some good points but I felt like the protagonist is only motivated by revenge... (Ezio in ACII was like that but he learned by the end of the game to be respectful and don't kill just for revenge.)
