A look at XCOM2 and its modding scene

I will start off by saying I love XCOM 2. Bias out of the way, on to why it is so.

XCOM 2 is a follow-up to the acclaimed reboot of the original 1994 X-Com:UFO Defence ( or X-Com:Enemy Unknown in Europe), XCOM:Enemy Unknown (2012). Both XCOM:EU and XCOM 2 are developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2k Games. It improves on the reboot by adding more options on soldier creation, allowing to bring in your friends into the fight to watch them die gruesome deaths; more weapons and weapon modifications, and more skills added to the RPG side that allows you to train those soldiers for different roles.

Between missions you customise you base and research different technologies like weapons, armour and accessories to aid in battle, or convince more people to join your cause, or give different buffs. When missions strike, you have to pick them carefully, as, most likely you will not be able to win them all.
During the mission, the turn-based system allows for a very deep and micro-management intensive experience.
The game will not hold punches; as much as it allows you to form bonds with your soldiers, it will kill them without remorse, so go in expecting that.

But what truly makes this game great are the mods.
The Steam (Steem?) Workshop is full of them, so you can customise your game how you like. Add a morale system, more weapon types, a friendship system that buffs soldiers that survive missions together, more enemies... You want it, you`ll find it. A great mod to get started is Long War 2, that overhauls pretty much everything and makes the game more complex, harder and longer. But I suggest trying it after you finish the game once.

A huge expansion is soon to be launched, called War of the Chosen, that adds hero enemies, more enemy and friendly factions, and of course tweaks to all systems already in place. I`ll probably be buying it and hopefully give my opinion on it here when I do.

What is your opinion? Have you tried it? If so, what`s your take on it, and what mods do you use / recommend (if any)?

That's so funny! You even put in the Danish flag there. LOL Cheers mate! :)

Yup! The level of customisation is quite high. Si if I'm gonna put you in, might as well do it as best I can :)
