So as you continue along in the game you spend a small portion of the beginning reuniting with your old friends. You also spend some time refreshing yourself on previous Sword Art Online events.
You bump into the mysterious NPC again and after doing a quest for her which is all simulated you return to town. Upon returning to town you run into your friends who instantly are drawn to the NPC and decide to name her. Her name is Premiere. Yui has it this point scanned her and found her to be an NPC set to default. Every aspect of the AI known as Premiere is a default or null. And personality-wise she is pretty bland potatoes.
After some more character development and movement up the level chain you enter another story are where you take Premiere and Asuna on a quest.
While questing you encounter an object that glows in Premiere's presence. Upon grabbing the object it glows even more. After the quest she seems to start to have a small spark of personality.
While adventuring in the wilderness you will continue to encounter boss monsters.
Bosses of all types and sizes. Almost all bosses seen so far mirror a more common smaller version in the wild. Meaning the giant crab is a large version of the small crabs you've probably been smacking the crap out of.
Even including the hive for some wasps.
And in this point in the game you're starting to equip yourself and upgrade early equipment. What are the advantages to this game is even though you're pushing the story forward as Kirito you can customize the Avatar you play as. If you want to play the role of Kirito you could simply let the avatar be the default or you can customize it for some personalization. And whenever you want to you can change the Avatar back at your room in the Inn.
