Destiny 2 - Brief Review

in #gaming9 years ago (edited)

If you've played Destiny three years ago then you might want to play this Destiny 2 because it is far better than the first one. I've been playing it for more than a couple of months now and completed the single player story/campaign. I just started playing its first expansion, the Curse Of Osiris. I will do the brief review post after I finished it.

Destiny 2 features a lot of things, there are so many things to do in the game. Apart from the single player campaign, which will need many hours of game play for you to complete it. While doing the single player campaign, you will also be distracted by the side quests which will adds more hours into your game play. All those stages in the campaign and the side quests will be enough to get you deep into the game and make you feel like it is worth your money buying it.

To start the game, there are 3 classes you can choose from, Titan, a Warlock and Hunter. Each classes have their own specialty, ability and power. From those 3 classes, each class also have some subclasses that you will unlocks along the way when you play the single player campaign.

Next is you will be going to play the public events game that you can find in all of the maps. Public events has its own timing and you'll have to wait until its available to play it. It will also run on a limited duration so you have to complete it within that time frame. Public events is best played with other players, although you can play it alone but you might not be able to kill all the enemies on your own especially if your level is very low and playing with low level weapons. The public event tasks are mainly made for co-op multiplayer or teamwork kind of play but you don't have to join any party/team or joining any match session, you just need to find where the public events are and wait until it start. Public events will give you a lot of experience points which is good for fast leveling up.

If your level is high enough or you think you're good enough you might want to move into Crucible where the PVP game mode is happening. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of the gamers know how PVP is so I don't want to elaborate more on that. Basically, PVP is best played if your level is very high or maxed or if you have master the game very well, because you know, it can be very harsh and brutal for low level players there.

Another game play that you might be jumping into next is Raids. Raids must be played with five other players, preferably your friends because running with random people in this tricky play will be very disastrous. But if you don't have that much of friends playing this game, then just play with random players although it can be a pain to wait while assembling the team. You will be doing some puzzle solving and killing big powerful enemies. You cannot do this alone.

Please note that if you haven't bought this game's first expansion Curse Of Osiris your level will be capped at 20. I reached level 20 even before I finished the main single player campaign because I did a lot of public events. But some of my friends managed to get to level 20 by doing only the single player campaign and get to it upon completing that campaign. After I reached level 20, completing the remaining quests in single player campaign is a breeze.

There are many more game mode or tasks or quests that you can do such as:

I. Adventures - side quests with short mission/task to complete. This is good for taking a break from the single player campaign.

II. Lost sectors - is basically an adventure to find and into going hidden caves. Kill all the monsters, get the key and open the chest at the end. It can be very rewarding.

III. Strikes - you have to unlocked this and once you do, you need to know that the mission in Strikes is longer than your other side quest. It is also more challenging and you have to play this like the public events, with other players, unless you are very good then maybe you can do it solo.

IV. Patrol missions - small mission where you will be "guarding" an area and kill the high level enemy and pick up whatever he drops which normally a special items or equipment. It's pretty easy to play.

Leveling up and upgrading in this game can be quiet tricky or confusing but you'll understand it better after finishing the single player campaign. Your level might be 20 but your power will still be low because it depends on many other things such as your weapons and equipment. Getting a powerful weapons and equipment also not an easy task but as you go on, the weapons and equipment you can buy from the key NPCs that you unlocked after each stage in the campaign will be higher and better. So spend your resources wisely. The weapon and equipment you'll get from other modes of the game will also be better as you move up in your level. Sometime even better than the one you bought.

There are also a thing called subclass and each subclass have their own specialty, abilities and powers. You can switch between this subclasses and you can also spend your upgrade points to upgrade the ability in each subclass. Be careful though, once upgraded it is not reversible.

Some tips for those who planned to play this game or just started:

I. You will need to grind really hard in this game, very hard, in fact. Don't give up, your grinding will give you a lot of free good weapons and equipment that you might need to fight your way through the campaign.

II. Play and finished the single player campaign first before you jump into PVP plays. Upon finishing the campaign you will have probably mastered the game or maybe reached level 20. Most players in PVP are very high or maxed level. Unless of course you don't mind the bullying.

If you're tired of shooting aliens, play soccer hahaha

III. As you go through the single player campaign, play other side quests and public events, it will helps a lot in leveling up and getting good weapons and equipment.

IV. If you see a high or maxed level players doing public events, join them. Even if you just started playing this game, they won't be offended by you (a beginner) joining them, not like in PVP. Do this to get good equipments and weapons as well as a good amount of experience points.

V. Choose your weapons wisely as each types of weapon have its own advantage and disadvantage against each type of enemies. Observe and you'll learn this fast.

VI. Don't waste your resources upgrading your weapons because you will get a lot of better ones as you go on.

VII. Keep your eyes peeled for loot boxes. There are some of them scattered around in the maps.

Another fun thing to do in this game, punching all your enemies

VIII. Don't be worry of letting go of weapons and equipments if your inventory is full because you'll get some resources for dismantling them and you will get a lot of better ones as you leveling up.

IX. You can only keep limited number of items of each category. Keep one with the highest level of each types and dismantle the one that you didn't use. Only keep those you will use because hoarding is not supported and encouraged in this game... LOL...

X. This is not a game that you can expect to play by only completing the main campaign, there are much more fun things to do in it so do it all as you go on.

So, there you have it, a short review of Destiny 2 game. All in all this is a great game with so much things to do. You won't regret buying it.

Most of the photos in this was taken randomly from the first day I play it, so some might not be the recent ones.
