The Evolution of the RKDCORBIN Show

Back in the early days of the show, we were still fine-tuning everything from the lighting, audio, and sets. Initially, we had opted to go with an original white background to give a sense of modernity about the show, since, after all we were talking about, technology and gaming.

We’ve sure come a long way from those days, but still have stuck with our diligent crew of only three, myself: producer and host, my girlfriend: who is the show’s director and writer, and my editor: who at the moment works with us remotely from Kansas City, MO.

In this episode, which is the latest in the series, (we are up to more than 30 at this point), still slow, but coming along as we continue to evolve in our vision and visuals; I talk about some of my favorite artists and the role of augmented reality in our lives, both in the gaming arena, but as well in our social interactions.

I was inspired to use the background landscapes from one of my favorite music artists, “Kid Koala”, who had a good buddy of his Jonathan Eng design one of his most recent games, “Floor Kids”, and you’ll see the landscape behind it. Stay tuned til the end where you will see a familiar “intro” in our outro which introduces the artist Botany whose music pervades the entire episode. Another note on this most recent one, as I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing this, is in regards to YouTube’s recent misses in its counter algorithm. At one point this episode once displayed over 120k views, and within days, the viewership fluctuated from 10k one day, to 5k another, jumping up to 100k, and back down to 9k. There’s plenty out there on the Internet of other content makers’ stories of this occurring to them as well, as bloggers and tech sites report on some of these discrepancies attributed to YouTube’s flawed algorithmic system, skewing viewership to certain “boosted” content. But nonetheless, despite these minor setbacks, I persist with every intention of continuing to put out content and most importantly, having fun :) I might be just one of the little guys for now, but I’m hopeful that with hard work, success will follow.
