You start with three starter tiny ships: Shuttle, Sparrow, and Star Badge. This game also have storyline to be completed. Until now, there are only Free Worlds major storyline, but you can completing minor storyline or jobs. Difference :

  1. Modding in Endless Sky usually easier because this game using variable so modder even end-user easier to mod. Whereas in Naev, to create new or modify a mission which use lua script which make user don't know lua seems slightly more difficult to modify.
  2. In Endless Sky there are alien civilization outside human space. Whereas in Naev there aren't alien civilization, only human civilization.
  3. Endless Sky use Gregorian Calendar system which we use now and sets in 3013 AD. Whereas in Naev use own game time named  Universal Synchronized Time (UST) and time format is  SCU:STP.hSTU  it might be UST 603:3345.65 which  1 SCU = 5000 STP. More information about Time System for Naev is http://wiki.naev.org/wiki/Manual .
  4. Endless Sky use their own artwork. Whereas in Naev bigger part of all artworks like music, ships, sound effects use Vega Strike artwork. The source for Vega Strike artwork is here https://sourceforge.net/p/vegastrike/code/HEAD/tree/branches/vegastrike_0_5_1/data/ .
  5. Naev development activities maybe slow right now, but development activities for Endless Sky still active right now.
  6. Until now, Endless Sky have not own soundtracks. Whereas in Naev, there are own soundtracks which some soundtrack is from Vega Strike game.
  7. Naev graphics background is more beautiful and better than Endless Sky.
  8. Endless Sky have many storyline which can you completed. Whereas in Naev until now, there are maybe fewer storylines and maybe no one storyline of factions like final mission, after climax storyline.

Equation :

  1. These two games are open source and licensed under GNU General Public License v3.0.
  2. These two games are free to download.
  3. These genre of two game are sci-fi (Science Fiction) and use rpg element.
  4. These two games are 2D.
  5. In these two games, the character is your ships.

My Interested Things :

My interested things is I like Endless Sky because there are many outfits and easy to mod, whereas in Naev I like it and sometimes play it because the game music.

I'd not heard of these two games before. I particularly enjoy your focus on the ease of modding these games - that's something I think about a lot, too, when I play games.

I'd like to hear more about your opinion on the base games, even if it's short! I understand your focus is elsewhere, but I don't think a bad game can be modded to be genuinely good.

Yeah, I usually focus on modding ES game and blogging at steemit about game review and other topic. I have a mod named Jaling Expansion but still v0.1.1. I ever playing these two games. Endless Sky starts when there are conflict in human space and ended when player kill Syndicate (Extremist).

Game can be modded even total conversion, like Counter Strike, total conversion of Half-Life. Dota is a mod first on World of Warcraft then be game named Dota 2.
