Hello steemians, it’s your girl again, welcome to another game review of today, I don't plan to take too much of your time on this one. Now let us begin.

There are games that do not need presentation, and Super Meat Boy is one of them. Since it was released in October 2010 on Xbox 360, it has been one of the great stories of "indie" success and an example to be followed by many other studios, which event served as a guide for documentaries such as Indie Game The Movie for the story after it success. After devastating on Xbox 360, the game jumped to other platforms, from the PC to Wii U, through PS4 and Vita and this year will have a sequel itself, under the title of Super Meat Boy Forever.

Now, Super Meat Boy comes to Switch based on the latest console versions (PS4, Vita and Wii U). Its characteristics are the same (dark, unlockable levels ... everything is still present in Switch). Here we are going to focus on the novelties of this version for Nintendo Switch .

Let me make this clarification, it is worth saying that the port of Super Meat Boy to Nintendo Switch is the work of Blitworks, the Barcelona studio that has already carved a name thanks to the worked console adaptations of titles such as Fez, Sonic CD or Bastion , to mention some . In this sense, both visually and in terms of control, the game is identical, there is nothing that deviates a bit from what is seen in other versions.

Control System

The control system, essential element to be able to overcome the levels, is still very simple and we only have a jump button (which recognizes between three levels of height as we press more or less time), another to run and options such as power " ascend "by the walls jumping. All these tools are given at the beginning of the game, and with them we overcome the brief levels (which can be exceeded by 20-30 seconds on average), although their difficulty is always more.

The control in Switch is very good, something key in a platform that demands millimeter precision. There is no delay or lag in Joy-Con, and the response to our pulsations is immediate and precise. In two words: if we miss a jump, it is solely our fault. And, do not worry because, even if you think you are very good, you will die ... and a lot. Luckily there is no waiting time, and nothing else to die you can try again immediately, without waiting, something that mitigates frustration.

Graphics

As for the graphics, Super Meat Boy has never blunted by its graphics, so Switch moves them without problems. Everything, including the video scenes, continues to refer to the Flash origins of the game. Despite its general simplicity, its protagonists are extremely expressive, without missing notes of black humor and acidity everywhere ...

Between overcoming the almost 300 levels offered, unlock their corresponding dark version (getting an A + score), find the distortion portals that lead to different specific minigames (and in some cases unlock character), the truth is that Super Meat Boy Leave enough hours of play for the 15 euros it costs.

Modes

The Carrera mode, which exploits one of the characteristics of Switch: the local multiplayer mode. This mode is played as a split screen, and allows two players to compete to see who is the fastest by completing a series of levels.

We can choose between a normal mode, which invites us to overcome the different chapters (choosing levels of light, dark or both) or a random mode, which remixes the chapters and allows us to choose the duration of the game, between 10, 20, 30 or 40 levels. The good thing is that at all times we see the progression of the other player, which undoubtedly helps to create tension.

This career mode was something the game's community of fans had been asking for for a long time, and for that alone, the Switch version is worth it, especially if you enjoy competing against other players (although there are also online rankings with different filters. , like see only the score of friends).

Conclusion

The game itself is the same. But whether you played it on other platforms or if you want to play it anywhere (on a bigger screen than Vita's), the truth is that Super Meat Boy keeps having fun like the first day.

Of course, it is worth remembering that it is a game that can get to despair and that if challenges do not go to you, nor demanding games, your Switch may run the risk of being stamped against the wall or the Joy-Con busts. For others, a great platform game to start the year. Too bad the soundtrack is not the original 2010.

The challenge of Super Meat Boy remains as current as the first day and comes to Nintendo Switch with all its virtues to become one of the best 2D platforms in the system. A game that, in addition, shines in the portable way and that by itself will convince so much to the fans of the original as to the newcomers that look for a challenge.

Happy Gaming!!!!!
