FM 2016 The Hopton United Story Part 5

Welcome to Part 5 of the Hopton United Story.

In the last part of 'The Hopton United Story' we have a relatively successful year maintaining our league status and winning the League Cup.

This season we are looking to push on in the league towards the top of the table and try for a little cup run again.

Domestic Cups

The first cup we enter is the FA Cup in the Extra Prelim round. We come up against Burnham which is a fairly comfortable game. This is followed by another 2 comfortable wins against Brantham and Thurrock. We finally crash out to Faversham in the 2nd Qualifying round.

We then move on into the FA Vase in which we started in qualifying against Rayners Lane and get make it into the 1st round proper fairly easily. We end up going all the way to round 5 until we finally lose in the replay to Sleaford.

Finally we have the Eastern Counties League cup which we are currently reigning champions of. We make it to the quarter finals before losing to local rivals, Gorleston. This was a disappointment not only to lose to a major rival but also to not have a chance to retain the title.

League Campaign

Finnally we move into the league campagin which to be honest, was not great. We were in a relegation battle through most of the season but luckily hit a little bit of an unbeaten streak to pull us away from the bottom 2 and maintain our status in the division.

Overall a very dissapointing season and one to forget as a fan. No silverware this year and no cup run or promotion, just a run of the mill season which will not go down in history.
