The 10 Most Expensive Sony Playstation 2 games
The Sony Playstation 2 is the highest-selling video game console of all time, at over 150 million systems sold. Released in the year 2000, it became a monster not only in sales, but it accumulated a massive catalog of over 1800 games that were released in North America.
Here's the second in my series of 'most expensive games' by console, featuring the Playstation 2. Note: no collector editions or bundles are included in this list, and only North American releases are being included.
#10 Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy
Current Price: $54.99
It should be noted that the collector's edition, Alchemic Art Collection, is worth a very respectible $90.
#9 .hack Redemption
Current Price: $55.86
The first of 2 .hack games that make this list.
#8 Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Current Price: $56.40
The popularity of this game keep it in high demand. The Dreamcast version is also a pricey game.
#7 Futurama
Current Price: $66.00
A low production run and a strong fanbase have driven the price of this game up drastically.
#6 Wild Arms Alter Code: F
Current Price: $68.25
This is a Wild Arms game to keep an eye out for.
#5 Blood Will Tell
Current Price: $91.00
A very interesting game, where the main character is tasked with tracking down his body parts. Just...trust me...its odd but really cool.
#4 Haunting Ground
Current Price: $104.75
Survival horror titles dominate the most expensive games on the PS2. Haunting Ground is the cheapest of them.
#3 .hack Quarantine
Current Price: $130.00
Quarantine is the most expensive RPG on the system.
#2 Kuon
Current Price: $162.36
Kuon has tripled in price in the past 3 years, but the price seems to have stabilized over the past year.
#1 Rule of Rose
Current Price: $200.00
The most expensive game on the PS2 is another survival horror game that received a small production run, likely due to the content involving young girls. If you find one at a good price, consider yourself lucky!
With the massive number of systems and games sold on the PS2, a swelling of new collectors will likely be entering the market over the next 5-10 years, so this is a great time to start collecting this amazing console.

A $200 20 year old rpg is one I have to play.
Grabbed ROM.
I remember Gamestop selling used copies of Rule of Rose back in the PS2 days for $15. Wish I'd grabbed one. Hindsight, and all that.
You forgot to mention Ibara which is currently worth around 200 €.
Looks like that is pretty expensive as well, but it wasn't released outside of Japan and this list only counts games released in North America. Thanks for the comment though, I'm interested in this game now.
Indeed I focused only on the list and I have not seen the statement made in the introduction. Anyway, Ibara is also a great game, you'll like it.
I do enjoy bullet hell shooters, so I'll look into it. I'll be doing a Dreamcast list in the future, which will feature several shmups, since the many of the most expensive DC games are shooters.
Were any of them any good?
I have played two of them, so I can only speak to those. Blood Will Tell is a little clunky, but unique and addictive. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is one of the best fighting games ever made, with over 50 playable characters.
