Movies that should have gotten their own video games

Video games based on movies is nearly as old as video games themselves. There were games based on Porky's, Alien and Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the Atari 2600, though the hardware was not yet up to the task of representing a movie faithfully. Alien was essentially a Pac-Man clone.

As gaming hardware improved, more capable and faithful adaptations of popular movies found their way to market. However, many popular movies never got a video game interpretation. What movies never got the video game they deserved and what form and console would this game look like?

Big Trouble in Little China

A movie I adored as a kid, forgot about as a teenager and rediscovered as an adult, Big Trouble in Little China is probably one of my top 20 favorite movies of all time. So I'm naturally saddened that it never got a video game interpretation.

What would the game look like?

Beat-em'up. The movie would translate beautifully into a Double Dragon clone, where you could play as Jack, Wang or Egg Shen as they try to save Gracie Law and Miao Yin from the legendary Lo Pan.

What platform would this have appeared on?

Arcade.

Pulp Fiction

It shocks me that Pulp Fiction never got a video game. It was such a cultural phenomenon, and showed us that Quentin Tarantino was not a one-trick-pony.

What would the game look like?

Point and click adventure. The game would let you play various chapters of the story as different characters, from trying to retrieve your watch from the kangaroo to getting everything you need to clean the car soaked in Marvin's blood.

What platform would this have appeared on?

Windows/Mac, and it would have probably gotten an awkward port to the PS1 or Saturn too.

Equilibrium

equilibrium-2002-10-g.jpg
This cult classic about a totalitarian government that has robbed the people of the ability to have emotions would have been a great game in the early 2000's. The movie features a cool aesthetic and some amazing action sequences.

What would the game look like?

3rd person action. Taking inspiration from games like Max Payne, with some close quarters combat thrown in. Its gotta have the gun-fu that the movie is famous for.

What platform would this have appeared on?

PS2 and Xbox. Gamecube would have gotten shafted.

The Cannonball Run

A funny, charming and blast of a movie that follows a diverse group of people competing in an annual illegal road rally.

What would the game look like?

Racing...duh. Pick your car and team, from the sexy ladies driving the Lamborghini Countach to Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLouise racing in an ambulance. Every car and team would have positives and negatives, and a special ability.

What platform would this have appeared on?

Xbox 360, PS2 and PC.

So what do you think? What movies never got their own video game that deserved one? What movies would you want to see get the gaming treatment? Lets discuss!

As always, follows, upvotes and resteems are welcomed and appreciated!

A Pulp Fiction game would be pretty badass.
Equilibrium also... Although that's a very unknown film.

Big Trouble in Little China would of been amazing as a game. I think Escape from New York would of been epic. Sadly it was cancelled before it got started.

Hi, nice post and blog! Keep doing it, you are good!

Teen Wolf or Beastmaster could have gone 8 bit.

Great choices! Especially Big Trouble as a DD beat-em up. Did you ever play the Matrix game? It did a good job of mixing the martial arts and bullet-time gameplay. Of course, Equilibrium was already a bit of a Matrix clone with a little 1984 mixed in.

My contribution would be an alternate version of Falling Down where Michael Douglas goes on a GTA-style rampage.
