Diablo 3, end of the season wrap up
Since I last wrote about the adventures of Kaleth, I've done things that were needed to be done to finish off the season after the announcement came out that it ends shortly (February 11)
Kaleth
This is actually how he ended up looking at the end of the season
First up I finished off my Seasons Journey Chapter 4, to secure my completed Immortal Kings set, which required doing a Solo GR20. I managed this at Paragon 89 (L70P89 or just P89) and it wasn't as difficult as I'd expected, completing in under 12 minutes (15 minute limit)
killing Binder with plenty of time to spare on GR16 as I worked towards unlocking GR20
So much loot. And the overlay notification of gaining my seasonal wings!
Main task completed. Now on with the optional things
Next up, was to work out what was needed for the next challenge, Slayer. It mostly required killing some T7 level bosses, though in my opinion the main challenges are:
- getting a legendary gem to L25
- Solo GR30
- Set dungeon completion
So I changed my equipment to put on the last 3 items of the 7 piece Immortal king's Set, and checked out my skills to make sure I was making the most of the set. I needed to swap in Wrath of the Berserker, which was easy enough and it was time to test out the build.
If I were to reset these, I'd change the position of Fall of the Ancients to key 4, as they're a cast and forget since they're immortal. Frenzy on left click is never used and could be swapped out
I decided that first up I'd keep going with the GRs and see just how much better it was with the full setup. Well, GR21 was completed in under 6 minutes, and GR24 in about the same time. Completing them faster opened up more than just the 1 new level, which made it pretty quick to have access to GR30 so I had a go at it straight away. Well, actually had a go at GR31 since that was available.
The time on this kill ended up being around the 11 minute mark, which was still much quicker than I'd expected
Later on I did a GR33 which started out really well, but around the midpoint I struck a couple of elite mobs that kept killing me.
ended up with a 13m31s victory after around 8 or 9 deaths and with very damaged gear. Nearly 70k repair bill!
In a later session I decided to give the set dungeon a bash while I waited for Kim and Naomi to join me, and that went much smoother than anticipated. It took 3 attemps, but that was through my own carelessness and not remembering to wait until Wrath is active before going in to fight the elite. It wasn't hard to do any of the challenges for the dungeon, just had to avoid fatal damage, which I managed on the third try and had time to spare still.
Only the second time I've seen the Dungeon Mastered listing
There have been a few sessions helping level Kimmy and Zyrieen, as well as helping them and Nomi to complete their Season Journey goals for everything up to Chapter 4. Nomi has now completed it, Kimmy is needing a little more help but is getting close to being able to do his GR20. I don't think Zyrieen is likely to make it though, as she just doesn't have the time to play at the moment.
I've managed with them to run a few more GRs and level up my legendary gem enough and completed the Slayer challenges, but the next level of challenges are just too far away for me to realistically think about attempting, so it's time for a couple of weeks break from playing Diablo 3, which will let me put more time into Path of Exile and my studies.
Slayer completion banner. I've seen this most seasons now, which is nice. Would like to see the further ones again.
Needed to fight the big bosses along the way. This was the big boss versions of Magda and the Skeleton King
Kimmy, Nomi, and I in New Tristram after completing some more of Kimmy's Season Journey
I've really enjoyed playing the barbarian. I've always loved the whirlwind skill for them, and since getting the full set and the bonuses that come from that, it's been hilarious watching the enemies leap at me and die before landing, or just melting as I spin through them.
I hope you've enjoyed Kaleth's journey, and I look forward to bringing you a new character in about a fortnight's time.

I think i should try this game :)
I've been enjoying it, and enjoying writing about it too. Glad to hear from a few others that they're either playing it or wanting to.
I should stop tempting myself lol. As someone who played Diablo 2, it's easy to get tempted. The graphics in this is awesome. And I might read up on the storyline for 3. And even though I'm trying not to get tempted, I'm sure I'll read your next post about diablo 3 eagerly xD
If I see it on a bargain bin price (given it's ~4 years old now), I'll probably advertise the special too, because I'm an enabler.
I do have a bit of a break before the next D3 post though, with the off-season approaching
