The future of gaming

So everyone knows that gaming isn't really advancing quickly, but it is kinda fast in a way if you think about it.

Yes, I know Virtual Reality is a thing.

Gaming has advanced over the years since the year 2000. It has became competitive with the E-sports leagues and just which brand is better like PC MASTER RACE
Or just like arguments with XBOX or either Playstation. It is pretty controversial. Like we don't know which is actually better with the Console wars.

Alright, so we are getting off-topic, let's remain back to the actual title.

Virtual Reality has started in 2015 or either 2016. It really started when the Oculus Rift came out. Then another big one was the HTC Vive. There were like other projects like Google Cardboard or either the Samsung VR. Virtual Reality has been growing very steadily. The games aren't that amazing, but there are games like Doom and others that I don't really know. Will Virtual Reality be the next extremely large thing? I know it is popular, but will it actually begin a new era? Will new companies begin to rise from just doing VR? And then creating a possible VR war?

It has been a bit strange to think about. We just don't really know anything yet. The public doesn't really know how much it takes just to program a VR game. It probably takes a ton of cash just to do so. It just depends on the type of game and how actually large it is. Virtual Reality is still in the beginning stages, but is slowly rising up.
Wait, why haven't XBOX made an XBOX VR yet to compete with Playstation VR?

Now there is a new thing. With the Nintendo Switch, the controllers have augmented reality. Augmented reality is more different than Virtual reality. Basically, augmented feels like if it was actually there. In one of the games that Nintendo has released (I think it is 1-2 Switch), they have this ball game where you have to count how many balls are in the controller. It feels odd since it actually feels real. I never got my hands on a Switch so I can't really explain it. Looking at Youtube videos with this, you can tell what I'm talking about.

Will Augmented reality be the next BIG big thing in gaming? Like is Virtual reality the "prototype" of Augmented reality? Like is it the first few steps of it becoming that way. Technology advances as well as how gaming will go. I am not really sure, but we the gaming industry has involved.
