Surviving Mars...with STEEM!
I found STEEM on Mars! These are screenshots from a new game I've been playing called Surviving Mars. Thereactually is no STEEM on Mars (or steam) but I saw this logo and immediately thought of Steemit. And it's green!
The object of the game is pretty self-explanatory but I recently bought an expansion pack that allows you to attempt to terraform the red planet.
Some context regarding the Steemit symbol
You might ask, "Aren't greenhouse gases bad?" Yes and no. While Earth is already habitable, saturating its atmosphere with more greenhouse gases would spell doom for the corals, animals, and ultimately all life.
Mars, on the other hand, is basically a dead planet. Being farther away from the sun makes it colder than Earth and its atmosphere is thin. A little dose of greenhouse gases would be just the right medicine for making Mars habitable by increasing the pressure and warming up the planet!
Power is probably the single most important resource in the game because just about everything requires it, including other resource production buildings like water extractors, oxygen filters, and hydroponic farms.

Besides basic resources, the colonists require a bit more to be happy. Some like to drink or play at the first Martian casinos (but I tend to steer clear from recruiting Alcoholics and Gamblers) or work out at the gym. Some colonists are Loners or Melancholic. If their morale or sanity drops too low they become Earthsick and will depart on the next supply rocket or worse, commit suicide.
The gamer has many options for who to sponsor your colonization effort, where exactly to land on the planet, perks, and more. This gives you countless hours of gameplay and a lot of replay value. Trust me, every single playthrough is different, especially when random events are taken into consideration.
The main reason why I like this game is that the science in it really seems realistic. It's not so much science fiction, but rather an intelligent and creative extension of real science as we know it today.
I hope I got you thinking and inspired you about space and life and pioneers!

LOL! Surviving Mars is a game that is on my backlog... it looks like fun!
