Hello Steemians, happy weekend for all of us little by little I am writing about my experience of a long time ago playing World of Warcraft video game that I recently returned and from which I feel very lost since there are infinities of things I feel another amazing game of Blizzard, in this time I bring an attacking hero with ninja skills and very fun to use. I hope you like my review about Genji!

Overwatch is one of the most famous video games currently in the community of players with a little over a year, competing directly against video games such as League Of Legends in countries like South Korea, where there are more active players and becoming the most played from that country.

Its game mechanic consists of six people per team, where we choose a hero with unique movements and abilities. The main objective is to work as a team either to attack or defend points, target escort, control and competitive mode. Recently they added new game modes like team combat.

Each hero has a specific role and are: Offensive, Defensive, Tank and Support with various maps and game modes. That make Overwatch one of the most beloved games in the community of players. And for me one of my favorites.

According to official figures on the same page of Overwatch exceeds 30 million players.

Genji EVEN IF I SACRIFICE MY BODY, I WILL NEVER SACRIFICE MY HONOR.png

The cyborg Genji Shimada was able to reconcile with the improved body he once rejected and, in doing so, discovered a greater humanity.

As the youngest son of the ninja Shimada clan master, Genji lived a life of luxury and privilege. The illegal business of his family interested him little, and although he excelled in ninja training, which he also enjoyed, he spent much of his time leading a womanizing life. Many in the clan considered the carefree Genji a burden, and resented their father for consenting and protecting him. After the death of the clan leader, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, demanded that he take a more active role in his father's empire. Genji refused and this infuriated Hanzo. The tension between the brothers became a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of death.

Hanzo thought he had killed his brother, but Genji was rescued by Overwatch and by the intervention of Dr. Angela Ziegler. The global security force saw Genji as a potential resource in its operations to fight the Shimada clan. As Genji's wounds had left him on the verge of death, Overwatch offered to rebuild his body in exchange for his help. He was subjected to an extensive process of cybernetic alteration, which improved his natural speed and agility and increased his superlative ninja abilities. Transformed into a living weapon, Genji took as his the task of dismantling the criminal empire of his family.

But as time passed, Genji felt a war growing inside him. He felt disgusted by the mechanical parts of his body and could not accept what he had become. When he completed his mission, he left Overwatch and wandered the world in search of meaning. He walked aimlessly for many years before crossing his path with the Zenyatta monk. Although at first Genji rejected the wisdom of Zenyatta, the benevolent omnico would not surrender. Over time, Zenyatta became his mentor, and under the monk's tutelage, Genji reconciled his dual existence as man and machine. He learned to accept that although he had a cybernetic body, his human soul was intact, and he could see his new form as a gift and a unique strength.

Now, for the first time in his life, Genji is free. Nor could he himself tell where his path leads.

Genji is a hero with great agility and speed of movement, stalking the enemy in multiple directions thanks to fast blow, besides being a difficult hero to point out by his passive "Cyberragility" that thanks to the cybernetic implants allow Genji to climb walls and double jumps with great ease. If we add to all of this, he can place the enemy against him with Divert, getting the enemy to return the damage. And his special Dragon Blade ability allows him to eliminate several enemies with his sword by hitting deadly blows.

SHURIKEN.png

Overwatch Screenshot 2017.12.08 - 20.09.42.54.png

The main weapon of Genji are his Shuriken which he can cast in two ways, the first in my case left click of the mouse throws three Shuriken in linear form and the second form with right click of the mouse throws Shuriken in a wider extension. Each projectile deals damage of 28 life points and throwing 3 projectiles, with a capacity of 24 Shuriken and a reload of 1.5 seconds.

Linear shot

Larger extension shot

DEFLECT.png

Genji's first ability is totally defensive since with his katana he can reflect the shots directed towards him and send them back to his opponent. With a duration of 2 seconds and a reuse of 8 seconds.

SWIFT STRIKE.png

The second ability of Genji is agility is launched forward cutting with his Katana (Wakizashi) and crossing all enemies in his way, damaging the enemy 50 points of life, in addition this ability has a passive which by eliminating an enemy with Quick blow can be used again instantly. The reuse of this skill is 8 seconds.

DRAGONBLADE.png

Overwatch Screenshot 2017.12.08 - 20.09.49.69.png

Genji's special ability is to unpin his katana with the help of a spiritual dragon. For 6 seconds, Genji's melee attacks cause a large amount of damage, most often being lethal blows. During the duration of Dragon's Blade, Genji can use the fastcut to approach enemies.

my review.png

I love using Genji for me is not a difficult hero to use, however, for many is listed as a difficult hero to use. While he is a hero who requires a lot of practice when using his skills, to outflank the enemy on numerous occasions in the short and long range, his passive allows him to be very agile climbing any surface and jumping making it a difficult target to aim.

In terms of their abilities they are amazing since they reflect the shots of the enemies causing them to kill themselves, to the point of reflecting special abilities which is surprising and at the same time for the frustrating enemy. If it is about mobility, Genji is the best with his quick blow allowing him to cross enemies and lengthening his jump to more easily flank the enemy.

Genji's special ability is a beautiful technique, as he shells his katana by increasing his movement speed and his quick strike can be used several times, to hit the enemies causing mortal damage, this ability combined with other abilities of the allies can be very lethal for the enemy team.

Genji is a hero who requires a lot of practice to master the mechanics of the game, as well as the launch of Shuriken since hitting projectiles is very difficult. Genji's abilities allow him to stalk the enemy and occasionally escape from enemies.

pros.png

  • Passive, which allows you to climb any surface and double jump.
  • The Shuriken with its two forms of shooting for short and long range attacks.
  • Speed of fast movement.
  • Return the shots to the enemy.
  • Quick passive passive by eliminating an enemy allows you to reuse the ability.
  • Strong against heroes like; Bastion, Hanzo, Torbjörn and Widowmaker.

cons.png

  • Hero difficult to use.
  • It is not recommended to play with a high ping.
  • When activating his special ability he announces some words which give him away, making him a target for the enemy team.
  • Weak against heroes like; D.va, Reinhardt, Zarya and Winston.

bonus.png

  • The name of Genji can be a reference to the main character of the Japanese classic novel, The Tale of Genji. The Overwatch Genji is described as a "playboy", while the Genji of the novel is characterized by his relationships with several women. In the same way, both men experience being banished from their families.
  • In his youth, Genji's father, Sojiro, gave him the nickname "Sparrow". He seems to use the pen of a Japanese hawk as a business card.
  • A giant Genji action figure was shown in Paris as part of a pre-publication promotion for Overwatch.
  • Genji's sword was replicated by the Man at Arms series of weapons.
  • Genji is the fourth playable character of Overwatch in Heroes of the Storm.
  • Genji is an announcer acquirable in Heroes of the storm, along with D.Va.
  • Genji seems to be ambidextrous, as he throws shurikens and uses Dragonblade with his right hand, and sword for Swift Strike and Deflect with his left hand.
  • Genji used to have exclusive skin only obtained from doing the Nexus Challenge in Heroes of the Storm, later he turned again into the Nexus 2.0 Challenge, along with an exclusive skin for D.Va. As of Patch 1.12.0.2, they were added to the classic kits and can also be purchased for 1,000 credits.
  • In the body of Genji, the Japanese word Bushin (武神) is written.
  • A statue of Genji Figma will be released in Q2 2018.
  • A diorama Genji vs. Hanzo Nendoroid is for sale.
  • A Genji-themed hoodie is available from JINX.
  • Originally, Genji and Hanzo were conceived as a cyborg ninja hero named Hanzo who used bow and sword, used parkour and had a killing ability, using illustrations for the Assassin class of Project Titan canceled. They were divided into two different heroes at the beginning of the development. Both the Genji and Hanzo kits were based largely on an earlier version of Shadow prior to both heroes, which resulted in the concept of Shadow being temporarily shelved.
  • Genji himself was originally conceived as a slow-moving stealth assassin with a skill that allowed him to shoot an enemy and then kill him instantly with a sword stroke if another enemy did not interrupt the attack, but it was discovered that this design was not well-founded . The lessons learned from this iteration of Genji were taken into account when developing Shadow as a stealthy hacker. Another early version of Genji was treated purely as a melee hero with his sword always drawn and the ability to stick to the walls.

To finish, It is extremely difficult to kill a Genji since its agility make it a difficult target, for those who are new to Overwatch and want to try it, I recommend it, no matter how difficult everything is in practice and start mastering this class of heroes gives you a great opportunity to handle any other hero in Overwatch and above all is a hero very fun to use, entertainment and fun are the main objective of video games. I hope you liked my review about Genji!
