Make the Maldives Great Again #4 (Europa Universalis IV)

Hey again Steem folk!

It's me again with another installment of Make the Maldives Great Again!

When we last left off, we had taken Shirvan as a vassal and vastly expanded our borders, so let's get started!

The Highlights:

Right off the bat, we begin (again) the annexation of Afghanistan. Due to some unforseen circumstances (i.e.: the Ottomans guaranteeing their independence, causing their liberty desire to stay maxed out and me having to break vassalize and declare war and revassalize them) we had to start the process over.

We declare war on Sunda, quickly dispatching their army and laying siege to their capital. Realizing they've lost, they offer to become our vassal and we graciously accept.

During the war with Sunda, we finish annexing Afghanistan, giving us a large portion of land in the Middle East.

We fear the Ottomans could strike again at any moment, so we seek a friend in their enemy, Ethiopia, who are a very strong empire in Africa.

We declare war on Georgia and take their land for Shirvan. We then designate Shirvan as a march in order to ensure their loyalty and make them a much stronger subject.

Looking to the East, we see that our old friends in Vijayanagar have declared war on Golkonda, one of our faithful allies. We decide that, due to Vijy growing too strong for their own good, we must dissolve our alliance and prepare for war.

We rally our troops at their borders and declare war on our old frenemy. It won't be easy.

While our fleet catches theirs off guard, we launch a multi-point advance, moving our large regiments in to siege with extra artillery support and our secondary regiments in close proximity in case of enemy movement.

Even with a terrain disadvantage, our troops manage to best Vijy's, who've pushed behind our assault and taken some of our land.

After decimating their military, we push the advance alongside Shirvan and siege as many forts as we can reach.

While we push our front, Sunda sends a small force and occupies island off the southern coast of India. They're quickly squashed, but we appreciate their valiant effort.

We continue our advance and reach their capital while Sunda sends another small force to the island.

We win the war and take a large chunk of their land. In addition, we force them to release U-Tsang as an independent nation. We then offer U-Tsang the chance to become our vassal and they accept.

Shortly after, we begin to annex Sunda.

As well we take what's left of Armenia for Shirvan.

Seeing another opportunity, we decide it would be in our interest to have Iraq as a vassal as this would give us more access to Ottoman lands and a line of sight on their troop movements. 

The war ends fairly soon and we make them our vassal, giving us a strategic point from which to observe the Ottomans.

And so ends this episode. The 19th Century looms on the horizon and the Maldivian Empire reaches farther than it has ever. We move into the future with our new subjects and look to the west at our oldest enemies. What will we do next? Stay tuned and find out!
