Communication in gaming

Gaming as a whole can be defined and represented in so many different ways, it cross across various aspect of life and one of the major or well know game is via a console.

Before now, gaming was based on the individual been present, you had to walk to a friends, co-worker or family place for you to play in a duo mode and it was usually against NPC, Non playable characters, characters designed by the developers to act as obstacle that hinders your movement to the next level, upon beating them there is usually a sense of achievement. Probably this is what all games centers on, a sense of achievement.

The feeling you get when you advance to a new level, beat a floor boss or increase your xp, it gives you a purpose to want to play more, some might say you become addicted to it over time and loose sense of all reality, enclose in a closed space where you get the zeal to want to push more, advance more, wanting to see what is up ahead. Most times you become bored after achieving or unlocking certain features, making the game a little more boring to play.

Gaming as we see it, as gone far and it’s no longer your small garage where you invite friends to play over, spend close to 5hours in a not so comfortable space and sometimes go home hungry, you can now play a particular game from different location, different devices and even interact alongside while playing.

Speaking of visiting a friends place, just remember a scene that happened say 17 to 19 years back, back then Sega genesis console was still fresh out and getting it was quite difficult, that particular morning we asked our Dad to get us a game, which he did but to his surprise upon returning from work, we were nowhere to be found.

We left our game at home, Nintendo and went to a friend’s place not too far from our house to play MK3, if you are a 90’s kid you probably understand the fun you get when playing MK, the brutalities, fatalities and combos, brought the game to a whole new level and between MK3 and super Mario, I think I rather go with the MK. Having so much fun, we totally forgot about home, we got to play with other individuals, interact but upon getting home, the story changed. Lol remembering what transpired just can’t stop laughing, well a story for another day.

Interaction, this has gone a lot far from your usual gathering process, we now have games with inbuilt chat system, where you can interact with other gamer via a type chat system or a voice chat system, we still have other software which enables in game chat alongside as you play discord, you can interact with your fellow teammate as you play, able to assist each other at every turn.

With the present of this, we now have multiple tournament where you can participate with friends to win a trophy or different prize, ranging from money to in game equip, one of the noticeable platform where this takes place is on the esport server, which supports a wide range of games, and features to make the competition more interesting and lively.
Well I was never into game to start with, but upon installing warface few years back, I somewhat became addicted to online multiplayer pvp, pve matches or even mission games where you get to play alongside other players, build friendship and interact as the games progress.

Speaking of interaction

So yesterday, I was playing PUBGmobile and one of the funniest thing happen, so as usual you get into a room be it squad, duo or single match, which I decided to log into squad match and along the line I made a new friend I think, voice chat was turned on and the game commence, playing through we decided to chat with each other, and the funniest part was I meant another gamer who stayed in Nigeria few years back, and was able to relate with me via the pidgin language lmao, man it was real fun.

Well our team was soon killed upon getting to a new location which we thought we had the upper hand but to our surprise, it was an absolute massacre, decided to play few more games, won one with me leading, don’t want to brag but I had a total of 9 kills on that match, one left and I would have unlocked a new frame, well am going to try again later.

Communication as gone far, such that most games can now be played on cross platform, meaning if your own a PS4 you could play, interact with another gamer who plays via a PC or an Xbox, an example of this game is Fortnite, where players are confined in a specific location and you fight your way to the top or play alongside your squad to become number 1 killing other players while you advance, this is one of the most popular game that allows for a cross platform gaming and it supports a wide range of device, recently added to the IOS device.

With this available you can now communicate with friends who recently relocated, traveled out and what have you.
Although, my country the amount of online gamer not so much, but recently I joined a group that plays Paladins from Nigeria even though we are from different location here in Nigeria, we have something in common which we all enjoy playing and I must say playing with them have really been fun, and I look forward to playing with other users, build friendship and interact more.

Gaming as really foster interaction between individuals from different locations, regions and the future looks really interesting and so much more to come.
