🎮 Killer Instinct [Arcade - SNES - Game Boy]
If you are from the time of Super Nintendo and Arcade, surely you will remember this great fighting game that marked the childhood of many, truly unforgettable.
Killer Instinct, the first in its type of fight launched by Nintendo in 1994, was thought for the first time that it would be part of the Ultra 64 project, but Nintendo surprised at the end by launching its version for Arcade and the following year for Super Nintendo (SNES) , leaving aside its version for Ultra 64.
It was programmed by Rare (a British company that developed video games for video game consoles) also known for launching the same year Donkey Kong Country, these two video games launched the well-known company to the highest prestige in the world of video games.
Killer Instinct along with the Mortal Kombat saga were the only games created outside of Japan that were very successful at that time and have maintained their legacy to this day.
It all started when, in the not too distant future, pollution was abundant and had caused great damage to the ecosystem. Due to the chaos, governments lose power and large corporations control the world, among them Ultratech stands out. This corporation has created a tournament to test the weapons they manufacture.
The tournament is called Killer Instinct and in it, the participants will fight to the death, the winner will fight with Eyedol (a warrior of another dimension), Ultratech will give as a prize of the tournament what the winner wants.
We can choose from a unique and varied cast of 10 powerful fighters, each with special characteristics
T.J. Combo
The 5 times world boxing champion, T.J. Combo was stripped of its title when it was discovered he had been doing tampras, since he had secretly been implanted with cybernetic improvements in the arms. Enter the tournament for money and to have Ultratech return your title.Jago
He is the co-star of the game, after training and being guided by his mentor "The spirit of the tiger", he knew that his destiny was to face Eyedol, before the evil continues to spread throughout the world.B. Orchid
She is a detective known as Black Orchid, infiltrates the tournament to learn about the disappearances surrounding Ultratech. He was believed to be Jago's lover, but was denied when it was discovered that he was his sister.
Cinder
Cinder is a man covered in fire, his real name is Ben Ferris, an ex-convict with whom he experienced Ultratech. His body is permanently on fire due to a chemical reaction. Stay confined in a block of maximum security, if you win this tournament, Ultratech will return your freedom.
Spinal
Awakening after centuries by Ultratech, Spinal seeks an ancient artifact called The Mask of the Ancients, because it is the only thing that can make him rest in peace. He has a big sword and a shield. Ultratech presents him as an assistant boss to win.
Fulgore
He is an android created by Ultratech with alien technology. The tournament will serve to measure your skills as a super soldier and start mass production. It is one of the latest Ultratech creations and possibly the most powerful one, it is believed to be the first of a massive creation of cyber soldiers. Dark rumors surround this character that would be made with human parts and created based on the movements of Jago, Fulgore can teleport.
Glacius
Glacius arrives at Earth after an accident in his spaceship, when he travels in search of rivals, Ultratech saw the opportunity and captures this alien to carry out experiments. Glacius is of a great stature, and his body is like a kind of Iceman, it is capable of disintegrating and taking other forms.
Sabrewulf
This is a werewolf who tries to recover his humanity, after failed attempts with medicines and magical devices. Ultratech promises to give him a cure for his illness, if he manages to win the tournament.
Riptor
It is a dinosaur, apparently velociraptor with robotic modifications in the extension of its body, which combines genes from humans and dinosaurs. The tournament will serve to measure their capabilities as a weapon.Chief Thunder
A Native American Indian chief looking for his brother and fighting evil. He has joined the tournament to find out what happened to his brother in the previous tournament.
Eyedol
Eyedol is the final boss and the biggest villain of Killer Instinct, he is a warlord who is taken to this dimension by Ultratech to present him as the last opponent to shoot down. UltraTech scientists managed to get him out of Limbo to fight with this year's Killer Instinct finalist. But they quickly realized the kind of power they were unleashing when they released Eyedol from his prison. A perverse two-headed Cyclops who wishes to establish a kingdom of evil.
🎮VERSIONS🎮
This video game has three different versions, one for arcade, another for Super Nintendo SNES and a suitable version for the Game Boy platform.
Arcade version
Killer Instinct was the first Arcade to use an internal hard drive in addition to the game ROMs. this allowed a greater storage of data and the possibility of having better graphics than the other versions.
In Arcade, Killer Instinct would have excellent 3D gameplay without leaving the 2D, you can also expand the game, which in other versions could not.
Despite having only ten players to choose from, Killer Instinct allowed a depth of moves and combos that made this game better than other fighting games with more characters.
Super Nintendo (SNES)
The SNES version of Killer Instinct was achieved with great success by Rare at the time of reprogramming the entire video game; the scenarios, the characters and the music were completely elaborated to fill the limitations of the platform.
Even with these modifications Arcade was even better in graphics and many other features, however, in the Super Nintendo version they managed to develop other game modes and took out a special edition of the black tape, which was different from the typical gray cartridge that was the standard for this platform. A CD is also included in the original version of the songs.
All this to compensate the players.
Game Boy
The Game Boy version was completely redesigned by the limitations of the handheld console and had fewer fighters to choose from than in other versions, eliminating Cinder and Riptor.
It should be noted that they were among the few fighting titles for this type of platform.

One of the features that most caught the player of the time, was that it allowed a variety of combos, where you could combine consecutive hits ranging from 3 hits to more than 13 hits in a row, not counting the Ultra and Ultimate combo that could be performed at the end of the second life of the opponent, giving an incredible beating to the opponent.

A remarkable point of Killer Instinct, its soundtrack, produced by Rare . The game's music was adapted for the Super Nintendo version, losing the quality that made it stand out in Arcade due to memory issues. A limited edition of the game includes the SNES cartridge plus a CD, Killer Cuts, with the original soundtrack, with some remixed tracks, as the name previously.
The one I like most is the 08-The Instinct and the 16-Humillation, I leave you the full sound.
