It was never revealed what Birdie had told Rashid and Azam.
He then talks to his friends online again and one of them, someone named Maya tells him to fight Ryu to see if he can face Shadaloo. He gives her coordinates to the location and also warns her not to get too involved with Shadaloo. Rashid and Azam find Ryu, because the former introduced himself as a hero who traveled the world. Gouken wonder why a hero like Rashid came here. Rashid wanted to test his courage by challenging Ryu; He took a fighting position but Ryu did not plunge into the fight. Rashid finds this strange because his source has stated that it will cause Ryu to immediately quarrel. He asks Ryu if he is not ready to fight, where Ryu accepts his challenge. Rashid and Ryu continue to fight, but Ryu pulls Shoryuken and defeats Rashid with one hit. The Rashid accepted his defeat, and they both had a friendly handshake after the fight; Rashid is glad that he will have a good story to tell everyone in his hometown, and he is grateful to know more of his own skills. Rashid and Azam leave immediately.
Then after his defeat, Azam asks him if he will keep looking for his friend or not. Rashid responds that he will not stop his quest, because he realizes something important to him in his fight with Ryu. He felt something in Ryu's fist about his desire to keep moving forward. Rashid decides to save his friend from Shadaloo even if he is alone on his way. He asks Azam if he is coming with him, where Azam replied that he would definitely go with him to save his friend from Shadaloo's grip. Rashid and Azam meet Zangief and R. Mika during the prologue story of Zangief. Azam was revealed to be a group advisor known as the "Muscle Soul Fighters Club", at which time Zangief and Laura were part of. Rashid was keen to meet the famous wrestler and marvel at his muscles. This prompted Zangief to have a friendly match with Rashid, who was very hesitant but reluctant to fight anyways. He points out that Rashid wants to find his friend, who interests him and convinces him to join, Rashid agrees but muses that if he is going to risk his life he wants to know who he really is. Before Kolin can answer, Urien shows up suddenly and cruelly scolds him for holding a secret meeting in a place he considers a garbage dump. Urien then shows his interest in Charlie and asks him to fight to see if he is more than a mere puppet, after defeating him, Urien decides to kill him with will.
