Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Beta Review

Free Beta weekend for Vermintide 2 is over and I can now share some of my impressions about the game. This is a full co-op multiplayer game where you and three other players play 30-60 minute long maps depending how far you survive against waves and waves of vermintide. Vermintide is of course Skaven, a humanoid rat race whose sole purpose is to destroy, kill and spread plague all over the world of Warhammer. In the sequel we will also fight some new enemies who worship gods of Chaos. There is a lot of slaying to be done in this game, I can confirm that.

You start the game with one of 5 different classes and each of the classes has 3 different specializations or careers. If you pick for example a Fire Mage, she will unlock another career path on lvl 7 and another on lvl 12. Every path has different passives and active abilities. There is also a rudimentary inventory and items system where you get some new items if you finish the maps with your team. There is a learning curve so expect to lose some maps and get nothing in return, slowly you will get a hang of the game and you will become a master slayer.

Considering this is just a 25$ game it can get you a lot of mileage for the buck. If you like Warhammer and co-op games you can definitely throw those 25$ for this game. Full release of the game is coming out in march 8th, so prepare your wallets for some great multiplayer action against Skaven and Chaos blight.

I didn't know there was a free beta weekend for this game. Was it on steam? :o

Yeah, it is actually still live. But I think it is too late to download it and also it has 20gb download.

The graphics in this game are killer coool graphics. I wouldn't blink playing this...

You wouldn't blink, but you need to squint, since it's either too dark, or too bright most of the time, you can barely see where you're going.

Hey @unacomn I think I saw you in the game (if you have the same name as here :) You played with an elf.
I agree with the light and dark parts, I was constantly adjusting brightness in the options and I couldn't find the right balance.

My machine wouldn't be able to run it. Nevertheless, it looks very nice. Too bad I can't seem to enjoy co-op games as much as I should, maybe because I don't have many gamer friends (they're all getting married, dammit) and I always have to randomly pick a match, when at all possible.

Anyway, we'll see where this one goes. Again, it looks very cool, but the mechanics might get boring fast.

Hey, this looks pretty decent. I do love the Warhammer series of games.
