Total War: Warhammer 2 Rise of the Tomb Kings Review

Tomb Kings are finally here after years of anticipation ever since Total War: Warhammer was announced, so are they fun to play and most importantly are they worth the DLC price point of 18$? My short answer is yes to all! Tomb Kings play completely different from other Warhammer races and they bring 4 starting legendary lord choices. Unlike every other race that requires gold to maintain their army upkeep, Tomb Lords don't need gold to recruit their undead units. Tomb Lords army mechanic is very different, you need to build more production buildings in order to recruit larger number of stronger units. If you only build one you get only one special unit for free, if you build 3 or more you get 3 strong units for free.

The key of successful Tomb Lord campaign is to conquer as much settlements as possible. That will provide endless numbers of undead constantly replenishing their numbers if you lose them. They also have a special resource called canopic jars. They can craft all sorts of items for your heroes and you can recruit stronger units by unlocking them with canopic jars. Their tech tree is also quite different from other races, they unlock dynasties which provide unit upgrades, army limit sizes, and all sorts of other cool upgrades. Tomb Lords victory condition on the great vortex campaign map is very different, unlike other races they need to collect 5 special books of Nagash spread all over the map. When you collect them all you will be able to win the campaign. Overall this great looking undead army is such a joy to play with and it is definitely worth the price if you own Warhammer 2.
