Torchlight Games

in #gaming7 years ago

This is an ARPG game series where anyone can jump into very easy, games are lighter and less complex than any other ARPG's on the market today. Torchlight series does not take itself to seriously like other grim Diablo clones. This series can be a great entry for people interested in ARPG genre.

Torchlight

First game was released in 2009. by Runic Games, game company of former Blizzard employees who worked on Diablo games. Game received decent reviews and was well adopted by the public. Game is set in the fantasy town of Torchlight where our three main classes, Destroyer, Alchemist and Vanquisher get to explore surrounding areas and find some great loot to continue on a quest to beat the villain of story corrupted by the Ember ore that is mining below city of Torchlight. One of the main features of any good ARPG game is randomized set of dungeons that increases replayability of the game and Torchlight did that part great, also worth mentioning is addition of pet gameplay. Good entry into ARPG genre if you are late to the party.

Torchlight 2

After success of the the first Torchlight it was time for another sequel with more stuff in it. Second game was released in 2012. and it is one of the best games of that year, Game presented us with four new classes, Engineer, Outlander, Berserker and Ember Mage. Every class has completely different play style and that adds huge chunk of replayability to this game as well as randomized dungeons. This time game world is expanded by lush forests, far away deserts and ruins of ancient civilization in a very much eye pleasing art style. Beautiful game and great APRG for the ages. Check it out if you haven't.

Big fan of Torchlight 1 & 2 and mods for the same.

I'm looking to go back in, I've played way too much of Diablo 3, Grim Dawn, Marvel Heroes and Path of Exile. Comeback to Torchlight 2 is possible, maybe start again with new class.

The mods offer interesting new class choices.

I will check it out for sure, tnx for mentioning it.

Classes Reborn mod? 40 new classes?! Goddamn...

The beauty of mod-able games. They take on a life of their own. The Total War mods being a good example.

Sweet mother of god, where to even start :) Yeah, there are so many great mods out there. My favorite by far Ultimate Apocalypse for Dawn of War Soulstorm, expanded the game by 1000%.

I missed the mines in Torchlight II :(

Torchlight 2 went proof of stake ;)

lol

but I think you should have written a bit more about the Torchlight mechanic. Same for your other posts. Just a few sentences.

Like that there are different resistances you need to balance (or, in T2 up one in each area, the one thing I hated).
Or the - forgot the name - where you got random maps to play after win.
Or the re-play and inheritance thing.
Or the spiritual ancestor Fate.

It is hard to keep readers interested with long write ups. When I write about gaming series it is just an overview of what those games are, if I go too much into details during overviews it would not be an overview no more, it would be a review. When I write reviews for certain games then I go full on into details.
Don't know if you checked, same style is present on almost any major gaming site, for example IGN writes the same amount of sentences like I do in their gaming articles and those articles are seen by millions of people, that is why my series overview as it is is working great, specially one day if this platform reaches mass adoption.
