The Best Hybrid Games

The hybrid games are different than your standard games because they have the gameplay that consists from two or three different genre of games. For example they can have RTS, RPG and FPS mechanics. True hybrids. This type of games have always fascinated me for that multi genre aspect. You can build a base, build a unit and you can take that unit and control it in 1st person view. Adds immersion like no other game. This type of games are special and I'd say more ambitious than your typical games.

Dungeon Keeper 2

Everyone remembers the horned demon on Dungeon Keeper cover. You take control of your own dungeon, you will create rooms for your minions to sleep, eat, work and fight. When your minions level up you can take control and play as one of them against opposing dungeon keeper. This game had dark comedy elements where you could torture your minions and be a true dungeon keeper. Fun game. 

Battlezone 2

Battlezone games were 1st true RTS/FPS hybrid games. You could build your base and go to battle directly controlling one of your tanks. Later you can upgrade your tech and drive even better machines of war. Battlezone 2 had better graphics and was improved in many aspects from the 1st game. Great story and fun gameplay made this one the best.

Spellforce 2

Spellforce games are the hybrid between RPG and RTS and this game series is one of the best. You could level your hero and equip him with powerful weapons that you can find in very big maps where you could do increasingly difficult quests and build your base and mass your army to crush your opponent. Heroes in the late game would  be gods that could fight the whole armies. 

Warlords Battlecry 3

Another RPG/RTS hybrid that was truly special, this game had the most playable races in any RTS ever, Battlecry had 16 races and you could level up a hero to lead that massive armies. Take that Starcraft! Your hero had an inventory where he would find better loot and improve his skills and with levels he would have more spells to cast from his spellbook that had 10 schools of magic. I wish they would make a new Battlecry game, potential is very big.
