The Best Fantasy Games pt.5
There is no game like Fantasy game, when you want to explore mystical new worlds and see magical creatures in action, casting spells at foes and finding that great artifact wand that gives you +10 to wisdom, fantasy game is a place for you my fellow steemit gamer. At the beginning of the genre there were just blocks of pixels moving around and most of the things were left for our imagination, but today we can see many vibrant and alive worlds due to GPU's that can power up a city. This list has the potential to be huge considering how many fantasy games are out there so I will make this list a series. Here are another 5 great fantasy games.
Majesty
Majesty was one of those rare unique games that had so much charm back in the days. This is a fantasy strategy game where you would build your town and recruit different heroes that follow different gods, you would also cast spells from that god, but you couldn't control the heroes, they would level up on their own and kill monsters that roam in you kingdom. Your goal was to clear the map of monsters dwellings and passively build armories and marketplaces where those heroes would buy items needed for them to become stronger. Such an interesting concept that no other game even tried to recreate.
Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns
Here is one of the hidden gems that many gamers forgot. This game is RTS had some really interesting mechanic with hero medallions, you would wind a medallion and opened it with hero being reborn from it, and then you could attach that hero to a squad of your standard units like swordsman on cavalry and he would gain levels and ascend to greater levels. Kohan 2 was also very very good.
Disciples 2
Just like Heroes of Might and Magic this is a fantasy game where you can pick your race and start adventuring. The difference between them is in this game you gain levels for small number of units that can be upgraded to 3 or 4 levels and with levels they change appearance and they become stronger. Some really cool looking models are being made in this game. Dragonlich, Archdemon, Son of Ymir, this game had all of those creatures and so many more.
Nox
One of the 1st Diablo "clones" on the market. This fantasy game had great character development, great story and fun trap gameplay where for the 1st time in ARPG genre you character could jump over the obstacles. Even though many years have passed since Nox launched, animations still look very good and the game could easily be played and enjoyed today.
Divinity: Original Sin
Kickstarter project from Larian studios that has gotten some game of the year awards. But what they did is release old school game at the right time when many publishers didn't care about that type of games. Result was an amazing success. This game had improved graphics and changeable environment, you could cast ice spell and the ground will be slippery, add fire, ground becomes wet, add electricity and who ever stands there gets electrocuted for more dmg. Great story line and big world to explore. Divinity Original Sin was great, can't wait for sequel that is coming out soon.
