Icewind Dale Games

Icewind Dale is a popular D&D RPG series from the early 2000's. Game is set in Northern Reaches of Forgotten Realms in the fantasy world of Faerun, same world as Baldurs' Gate games and Neverwinter Nights games. There are not many worlds as rich as Forgotten Realms are. Icewind Dales series is heavily based on Dungeons and Dragons rule set, that rule set is constantly being changed. First game was based on D&D 2nd edition ruleset and second game was based on 3rd edition ruleset. It is a game about saving throws and dice rolls under the hood. You can experience Dungeons and Dragons in one of it's best forms, an Icewind Dales series.

 Unlike Baldur's gate this series with more thought out NPC's companions with deep backstories this game is more focused on your party creation of six fighters without background. What that means is basically you need to create all six classes from scratch and create fully functional and balanced group. Rouges and Clerics are must have for any party, without those classes you can get decimated prety fast. Rogues can detect deadly traps and remove them and clerics can heal and buff your party for great effect. Other party members can be tanks and damage dealers. Once you create you party it is time to go adventuring in a northern snowy region of Faerun. Our party arrives in a town of Easthaven and quickly starts gathering quests and finding the deeper plot about demon invasion. You will end up fighting many monster types, from simple goblins in the beginning and as the game progresses ice giants and dragons. Finding that mystical gear, leveling up and exploring areas is what this game is all about.

Second game is just like the first one with great focus on action, what this series is known for, and this time story was more cinematic to say it like that. There are more characters to interact with in a larger and more detailed game world. Player controls a group of mercenaries in a war between the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale and a group of persecuted races and religions. Some new races are added and new spells and weapons from the 3rd D&D ruleset. Handcrafted environments and monsters and that beautiful isometric graphics is something that really adds to immersion. Icewind Dale is one of the most fun fantasy old school isometric RPG games, playing this at the right time can make you days fly.
