Gaming Retrospective - Stronghold
Stronghold is one of the best medieval castle management RTS games that was released in 2001. Game has detailed and still great looking old school graphics. Stronghold is all about military and economic management of your castle. All the buildings in the game are very detailed and all the associated tasks given to the workers is where this game shines the most, it is great to see all those small activities combining into great production engine for your castle.
Player takes a role of a lord in a kingdom. The goal is to create a stable economy and a strong military to defend against invaders with different war engines and military units. During the campaign the main goal is to destroy four enemy invader lords with siege gear and massive amounts of troops you can send to attack the enemy. There are several modes of gameplay, defend the castle, free build or economic resource gathering. There is no game that did building the walls around your castle and defending them as good as Stronghold did.
I've never played Stronghold - at all. Where can I buy it/any tips for a beginner?

What I really hated, on the "big" maps, was that to recruit an army strong enough to do damage, you had to click yourself to death on the campfire.
You could only recruit one soldier per click and worse, the max "storage" of recruits was 20.
Also AI would always stop 1 pixel away from your archers's range while you could not see it. And win with masses because it was dumb.
Still good game.
Minor grievances but annoying at times yes. My favorite part of the game was the castle defense with all the fire pits burning and balistas defending the walls, pure chaos. Good game indeed.
