Gaming Retrospective - Star Wars: Force Commander

Force Commander is a RTS game from the year 2000 developed by good old Lucas Arts. This was the first Star Wars game in full 3D engine where you could see the AT-AT walkers in their full 3D glory. As you can suspect the plot of the game was set between episode two and three of the original movies. Icy regions of Hoth and desert regions of Tatooine are the game's main battle grounds. Game is played from the imperial officer Brenn Tantor perspective as he moves through the ranks of the Empire and later joins the Rebellion once he realizes the Imperials killed his father.

RTS mechanics of the game were standard, build your base and force and crush your opponent no matter whose perspective you chose to play with, Rebbel Alliance or the Empire. As always the Empire has all the walker units and stormtroopers, while Rebels rely more on low numbers and more specialized units. Even though I liked Galactic Battlegrounds and later on Empire at War better, Force Commander was a decent Star Wars RTS game. As you all well know Battlefront 2 is released, and the evil EA empire is doing bad things again with the loot boxes paying model, it is the best time to remember good old games while that gets fixed.

Weird! I wasn't even aware of this. I have Galactic Battlegrounds, which is basically an Age of Empires clone with a Star Wars theme. It's simple, but a fun time killer.

I'll try to get my hands on this one.

Thanks, bro!

Galactic Battlegrounds was such a fun game back in 2001, factions were fun to play with, member Wookie faction? :) At the time this was first real 3D RTS game that now looks way too outdated, but go ahead play it if you can find it.

I member wookie faction!

Nice old school game

Man, I really hated this game because I thought it was a waste of money. Buggy, bad compatibility, bad graphics for how poorly it performed. The performance issues made is nearly unplayable. There was so much wrong with this fucking game that is still drives me a bit mad to this day. I could probably do a video about it.

Yeah, it wasn't the best SW game out there, but for the true SW fan still worth it.
