Gaming Retrospective - Recoil
Recoil is one of the most fun action games released back in 1999. It is a futuristic battle tank simulator and a welcome brainless fun after many Strategy and RPG games. Recoil is set in the near future. A network corporation has taken over most of the computers on the planet, something like Skynet, their ultimate goal being to make everything robotic. Player is a member of resistance that stole highly effective prototype BFT or Battle Force Tank. We are given various objectives all over the globe to take out different parts of the Network's operations.
BFT or as I like to call it a angry nervous Tank was so much fun, driving model of BFT and usage of environments is this game's main feature. BFT can change properties on the spot and become a hovercraft during some missions and can switch between many different weapons, you can mount mini nuke launcher so there is that.
Combat was highly addictive and almost everything around you could get destroyed by many BFT weapons. Sounds of destruction were spectacular followed by epic soundtracks during your angry tank mayhem. Fun stuff.
