Gaming Retrospective - Left 4 Dead
Online Multiplayer FPS games were always one of the most played games today, Left 4 Dead was one of the most popular online shooters at time of release in 2008. Game is based on Half Life source engine and was developed by Valve South. This game gained so much popularity for it's squad based teamplay gameplay. Story is pretty simple, we play as immune Survivors in an apocalypse that turned people into zombies that will kill everything in sight. Game is played in co-op campaign mode which is the most fun, but it can also be played solo with AI companions.
In co-op mode every player serves different role for the team. There are 4 playable characters with distinct weapons and abilities, we have Francis, an outlaw biker,Bill, a Vietnam Veteran, Zoey, a university student, and Louis, a district Account Manager. If the team is synchronized this game can be so much fund during 5 chapter missions against hordes of infected. At times when you join untrained team in an online match things can go pretty bad pretty fast, that adds to immersion, frustration, but you always end up satisfied, not too many games that can do that for you. Left 4 Dead 2 continued with great co-op gameplay with more zombie variety and maps.

One of the first real co-op against environments type of games, even though there are more games like this.
Yes! Was fresh when it hit the scene. I also liked the aspect of playing as zombies on the other side. But can't remember if that was in the first one or second or both.
Oh we used to go to one of them internet cafes and play with my friends for hours.. Good memories.. and Witches were scary! :D
