Gaming Retrospective - Endless Space
Endless Space is a 4X space simulation strategy game released in 2012 and was developed by Amplitude Studios. 4X for the laymen stands for eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate, therefore the term 4X came to be which perfectly eXplains the gameplay you can eXpect in this genre. In Endless Space players can take the role of various alien races and try to build their space empire. There are 9 playable races you can chose and begin your space journey, you can also create your own custom faction if you wish more of a role play experience.
Every faction offers unique perspective and play style, and will add to the longevity of the game. There are many complex systems in the game and you will spend a lot of time researching new technologies, making diplomatic relations, exploring, or if all other options fail, you will have to use good old fashioned combat. You can select actions for manual space combat that takes turns to complete, it adds more cinematic feel to the game and relaxes you from all the research, diplomatic and maps screens. You can also check Endless Space 2 and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion if you like real time 4X space strategy games.
