Gaming Retrospective - Dungeon Keeper 2
Today I will talk about another classic PC game from 1999 called Dungeon Keeper 2, this is one of those games that comes once in a millennium. Game flirts with satire and black humor with every every new level players are introduced with. We play as a Dungeon Master and control our minions who are coming into our dungeon via summoning portal. As you expand your area of influence, more advanced minions come in and you will need to cover all of their needs, or not, you could pick them up and place them into torture devices if they misbehave.
Main goal of the game is to take control of your own dungeon and excavate new areas to create rooms for your minions to sleep, eat, work and fight. Some ares are undiggable so you will need to prioritize what rooms to build. When your minions level up you can take control and play as one of them against invading heroes. This game had dark comedy elements where you could torture your minions and amuse yourself that way. You can also build torture rooms, prisons, fighting pits, workshops, casinos, everything any respectable dungeon master would need in order to keep the order in his dungeons. You will love to be the evil one in Dungeon Keeper 2.
Haha! What a shame Bullfrog closed down, i loved this game (although i never played the first one and it seems most people havent). You just reminded me of the other awesome game of Bullfrog, Theme Hospital, which i was in love with even more than this one!
I also missed the first game in the series, however, 2nd one is one of my favorite games of all times. Lots of people liked Theme Hospital, that game never attracted me that much, same as Sims. I hate Sims games :)
The Iron Maidens always blocked he spaces in the torture chamber :(
Interesting detail you remembered, I don't remember those small issues.
It wasn't an issue, since you could always take them away. But the needs of the ladies... were hard to match :D
Still one of my favorites. I'd recommend Dungeons 2 if you like this; It runs with the idea that the cancelled Dungeon Keeper 3 was going to have and takes the fight to the surface.
I will check it out for sure.
