Gaming Retrospective - Dink Smallwood

Say hello to one of the first ARPG's ever. Dink Smallwood was released at the time when action role playing games did not exist and the genre was just forming with games like Diablo. Dink Smallwood is way lighter than it's dark gothic counterpart Diablo. Game was released in 1998 and was developed by Robinson Technologies. Story is quite simple and humorous where our hero Dink Smallwood, a simple pig farmer becomes a hero, and in his travels to find his aunt he stumbles upon the infamous group that is threatening the Kingdom, and he will be the one that stops them.

The game has a satirical dialoge and you would laugh as well as level up and get stronger. As one one of the first ARPG's Dink Smallwood looked simple and the gameplay was simple, but the game managed to create some obstacles that are hard to beat if your hero is not strong enough. There are three main stats, Attack, Defense and Magic. By placing some points in magic you could surprisingly learn to cast fireballs to help you get around. Dink Smallwood is one of those old school ARPG's that was fun to play at the time.
