[Opinion] Nintendo is not behaving well with Wii U
I think it's a little unfair what companies and Nintendo itself is doing to Wii U. And it's that the console is dead. Kaput. Loop is repeated news in which companies decide to change the launch of a title from Wii U to Switch.
And eye, it is normal. Companies are primarily focused on getting money. And Wii U, to this day, is not synonymous with money. Switch is a rising value, while Wii U is a permanent reminder to the Big N that they were wrong, and a lot. Starting with the name, because even today there are people who still think that Wii U is a Wii peripheral.
If you do not have a Wii U, you'll be happy. Some of the best games of the console are coming (and will arrive) to Nintendo Switch, as has been the case of Mario Kart 8, Pokken Tournament and probably other titles that will appear (my personal bet is Mario Maker, Nintendo knows that game Would SELL MUCH in Switch).
But what if you've had a Wii U and now you have a Switch? The first major title that came out for Switch was Breath of the Wild, and also has a version of Wii U. ARMS is the first game (and license) that is not on Wii U, and Splatoon 2. But let us remember that Switch already has half Year in the market. And, even though this comes out the expected Mario + Rabbids, in September we have another review of a game of Wii U, the Pokken Tournament DX.
In addition to these ports, it is joined by the fact that I mentioned in the first paragraph: many games are not coming to Wii U to be launched in Switch. Most are indies, yes, but the last big release of Wii U was Breath of the Wild. And it seems that it will be the last one in the life of the console, because, of course, now Switch is the main advantage of Nintendo.
The Japanese company in the end is that, a company. The owners of Wii U have enjoyed authentic games like Super Mario World, Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Xenoblade ... however, and this is my personal opinion, in recent times, companies and Nintendo have not Ported too well with some users and a console that had to deal with clear disadvantages, such as a bad name, a brutal PS4 and PC competition, the almost total absence of third parties in its catalog and a high difficulty to develop in she.
For all of the above, I think that the owners of Wii U and Switch have reasons to complain, although from now on it is starting to arrive authentic games for Switch that surely will justify the purchase of the new platform of Nintendo. Although, as Reggie Fils-Aime said in an interview a short time ago, the Wii U ports will continue to arrive over time.
