Info and story:

Way after the human race had been wiped out, Squids and Octopi evolved into land creatures as the water levels on the earth rose.
Both species fought for the remainder of land and the squids one. Yet the resistant Octopi continue to try and over through the squids and it is your objective to stop them. At least in story mode.

Rating:

Splatoon got the rating E10 for cartoon violence. However, for all you worried parents out there this game is acceptable for a younger audience as well. The cartoon violence consist of Squid people blasting Ink at each other like a paint ball war.

Gameplay:

In story mode is set up between levels the farther you go the harder the levels get like a typical game. However playing online with others is an entirely different story. You are placed of different maps with 7 others set up in to two groups of 4. There are different ways to play and beat the other team and it’s a lot more fun than playing by yourself.

The first way to play is called turf war. Your objective is to splatter more of your colored ink all over the map before the time runs out and whichever side splattered the most ink on the map wins. There are tons of other ways to play and the game is always getting updated with new content like stages, weapons, gear, and contests. You’re gear is helpful in fighting other players. Each piece of clothing does something to either raise your character’s status points. Finding a status that you like can be hard to find since some of the clothing you need is not necessarily the clothing you’ll want. Weapons are also a big deal in the game. Test them all out and decided which ones are most suited to your play style. By doing this you raise your chances of winning. You are not going to win all the matches you play. Sometimes you’ll be put on a good team other times you won’t. You have to develop your own strategy while working with your teammates to insure a victory.

Amiibo: If you have the Amiibo for this game they unlock mission mode for the storyline after completing a set of missions you will be rewarded. There are three amiibo that work with the game so far. The Inkling Boy, the Inkling Girl, and the Green Squid. Each have a different set of missions and each give you different rewards for winning.

Likes:

There is a glitch in the game that allows you to walk outside the boundaries of the game. You can’t go too far or your character will fall through the floor and die. If you’re interested in knowing how to do this, google it.

Dislikes:

Two or more people are not allowed to play online from the same Wii U. The game does have a local multiplayer mode but it is nowhere near as fun as the rest of the features.

Over all I give this game a rating of 8/10. The game does get tedious at times but it’s always fun to come back to from time to time.
