Farpoint is a riveting VR space adventure set on a hostile alien planet. On a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly near Jupiter, a sudden rupture nearby sends you and their station crashing onto an unknown alien world.

Separated from your colleagues, you must use holographic logs scattered throughout the landscape to reunite with the scientists and escape the planet. Explore and discover the secrets of the planet, blasting your way through hordes of indigenous and alien life as you keep moving to survive.

So... its a shooter. Most of the gameplay is cut so its not redundant and I pieced together the story.

Review:

I have had the PlayStation Virtual Reality headset for a few months now but I never really had that amazing experience while playing until now. This is a shooter designed for PSVR where you need to look down the sights of your gun to aim and can hide behind cover and peek out or shoot through holes. It was a great experience. The fact that there is only one boss battle and its in the middle of the game is a bit strange in terms of structure. As you progress through the game you are introduced to more varieties of enemies and they are all thrown at you for the grand finale at the end so that part was satisfying. The story through me for a loop and didn't have a typical ending. As far as graphics... they are really good. I would say it was almost like playing halo in VR except you cant drive any vehicles but the weapons are pretty much identical such at the spike launcher - c'mon - ripped off Halo. Depth perception was spot on - I felt like an enemy was far away and standing on a cliff. The walking was really stiff; I thought you physically had to turn your body in the direction you wanted to go. Later I found out the other analog stick can control direction but it throws off the aiming a bit until you find the angle where everything lines up again. Plus when your turn its really glitchy through the goggles almost like a freeze frame. When I was editing this video it wasn't as bad as I saw it through the VR headset but its still noticeable when I turn that the framerate drops. I watched other videos where this didn't happen so im not sure if they had a PS4 pro or my PS4 just sucks. So with that said... id give this a 7.5 out of 10.Graphics are solid and story engaging but it seemed a bit unpolished and sloppy in gameplay mechanics. It shows the capability of VR in a shooter and I'm excited to see what's to come. I have this weird feeling that if the technology gets better there is no way you'd want to go back to a 2D gaming experience.
