I can play online poker again!

This is probably old news for you, but the reality only just dawned on me

Back while I was at uni I used to spend many hours a week playing online poker instead of doing my assignments. Weirdly, I was still a good student despite my online poker habits.

Surprisingly, I was pretty decent at online poker. I always played the freeroll tournaments where you'd win real money but didn't have to front up with your own.

Often the winnings were only a few dollars here and there. But after every freeroll I was able to accumulate some funds and I could start playing on the big boy tables.

Of course, I'd end up playing a few games after a few too many drinks and I'd lose the majority of my winnings. However since I hadn't put any of my own money into the game it never really bothered me all too much. So back to the freeroll tables I went and the circle was complete.

Fast forward a few years, and the Australian government decided that they didn't want people like me to have fun playing online poker any longer. They decided to pass a bill that very quickly put an end to online poker sites in Australia. Once the bill was passed, all the major online poker sites pulled their services from Australia. So I no longer had my favourite sites to use as a fantastic method of procrastination.

But this week it finally dawned on me that I could very easily be playing poker for bitcoin. So I did a little search and stumbled across an online poker site called Ignition Casino that accepts bitcoin, and allows you to play for Fiat currency after depositing your bitcoin.

This is brilliant, it means I can play poker using Bitcoinbut still play against people who are using Fiat as their source of funding. And when I want to withdraw my funds I simply convert them to Bitcoin and send them off to my wallet. It's the perfect alternative and lets me get back into the online poker space which I've missed for all these years.

This is one simple example of where cryptocurrency helps people restricted by borders or unreasonable restrictions. There's absolutely no reason to ban something like online gambling in Australia, we're all responsible for our decisions and those who play responsibly, shouldn't be prevented from doing so. But, thanks to cryptocurrency I no longer need to worry about these restrictions in this space. I can get back into online poker once again.

Oh and playing by myself isn't as fun as playing with people I know. So if you want to join me for a game then get started via my referral link. You'll get a little bonus and so will I if you join via that link. If you do jump on board, let me know in the comments. That way we can team up on a table together. :)

Thanks, for an easy to follow and informative article. No limit coin is doing something similar but also has a focus on fantasy sports. Have you taken a look at NLC2?

I haven't, I'll take a look now. Sounds interesting. :)

Poker is the best. Fortunately I can play in canada using my fiat

used ACR poker they are for all.Can play also in crypto and withdraw crypto

Yep, it's incredibly odd that it got banned in Australia. Makes no sense really.

Great, I did not know that place to play poker. Until now I've been playing occasionally in Betcoin, where you bet with Bitcoin, but it seems that your option is much better, since by allowing also people who use fiat, the public to play is wider.

Absolutely. There’s a much larger pool of players. I think online poker will be legal again in Australia sometime soon but this is a good option in the meantime.

Real world use of crypto...
the best news I can get regarding this new amazing technology.
(actually, good news for my time and money invested)

Yeah I love seeing actual use cases, even if it is as simple as being used in online poker. :)
