Full motion video game or FMV is basically a complete movie where you can interact with it, and decide where thes movie will take you. Full motion video game first appear when the CD was brought up to the market, The CD capacity where big enough unlike their disc ancestors, and you could pack a whole movie in this one CD and call it a game. So you will find titles like Corpse Killer, Phantasmagoria and even the Wing Commander 3.
But this particular title called Late Shift is written by the author of "Sherlock Holmes" from 2009 movie. This cinematic experience is filmed in full HD and it is a perfect blend and combination of interactive story telling, gaming and movie. This thrilling live action FMV will bring 180 decisions in the movie that will set the course of the story. From the very start to the very end, every decision takes the consequences that leads to 7 different endings and conclusions. You will have to act fast, you will only have a couple of seconds to make the decisions and film would continue without pauses and loops. Do you run or take the quickest path, steal some vehicle? Do you sabotage the plan or agree with it. The main character would be sucked in, in a brutal London heist. Innocent mathematician will have to make some choices in this crime thrilling action. So get ready!
So in summary this movie brings:
• Multi-optional Storytelling: One story, countless storylines, seven endings.
• A completely live action, cinematic interactive thriller, filmed in full HD in London, England.
• Over 180 decision points in total with no pauses and no looping footage.
• Directed by Tobias Weber, and written by Michael R. Johnson, author of Sherlock Holmes (2009 film)
• Acting performances by Joe Sowerbutts (Matt), Haruka Abe (May-Ling) and Oliver Twist’s Richard Durden (Samuel Parr).
The great development of the operating systems and graphic possibilities puts down the FMV into not so popular ways of entertainment. But the FMV would stick around in some dimension of a great idea, and I think this would be the future of interactive gaming and movies. Some of the titles you could try are Tesla Effect or Text with Murphy from 2014. Have fun :)
So if you are a fan of this kind of entertainment like various tv shows and crime series, you would love this title Late Shift.
It will give you the possibilities to make desired actions, and not to let the main character to act like a brainless figure that will act by a script. How many time you watched some horror movies, and the stupidest thing someone could do is to run to the roof. Or hide in the closet. In this movie or game, you will have options. If someone puts the gun in your head, you could try to run, confront in Jackie Chan style, or talk out of the situation, it is up to you.
The game last for 90 minutes just like standard movie. Countless decisions you will have, but some of them doesn't mislead you from the main story. So you will get the point what is this movie all about after just one play. There are 7 endings but the problem is, when you try to play it again, you will have to play it from the beginning. You will not have options to skip the scenes. But once you played the whole game, you will see about 80 percent of the whole movie, and it is a question if you want it to play it again to see the diferent endings. It would be nice that you have options to skip the scenes. But nevertheless this is a great entertainment if you have nothing to do in 90 minutes of your evening.
This movie is ideal to play with certain someone, or have a bunch of company and decided to make some movie night. Everyone will have the chance to direct the certain ways of the movie and it is a lot of fun. But don't forget, you only have a couple of seconds to make the decisions. And if you go wrong it is not a big deal.
Making this movie doesn't come cheap. there are scenes with fast cars and ruthless actions and they put a lot of effort to play out this things. This movie costs about twenty bucks and i will put this movie in a horror genre. But nevertheless have fun!
