Gran Turismo is back off and welcomes a brand new part on the PlayStation 4. The new racing game focuses on online racing and chooses quality over quantity. How does that deal? The findings in the Gran Turismo Sport review provide your answer to that long-cherished question.

It may take a while, but after years of impatient waiting, Gran Turismo Sport is finally in store. The racing series of developer Polyphony Digital exists every year and the focus of the games lies mainly on providing a realistic experience for every wannabe driver who takes control of the controller. However, Gran Turismo Sport has something to do with the formula, which results in a racing game with a different focus.

Quality above quantity

Because where the previous games were mostly known for the huge car and circuit load, Gran Turismo Sport is a little more economical with the amount of content. The focus here is on quality over quantity; The cars and circuits that are found in the game look nice. Wagens have all the details that you really would like to find back and the jobs look realistic and dressed.

A lot of progress over the 2D fills that the previous games often had along the track. The flat trees are past times (for the most part) and the audience is no longer able to look stiff. Graphically, the game is through a ring and lets you see what the PlayStation 4 Pro is capable of. In addition, Polyphony Digital has finally made some noise.

Whoever played previous parts knows that many cars sound like four-wheel vacuum cleaners. The audio in previous Gran Turismo games was certainly not the strongest element of the series. Fortunately, Gran Turismo Sport knows this problem; Digital replicas actually sound like the cars actually.

Get your digital driving license

Due to the beautiful graphics and the improved sound, Gran Turismo feels sporty and that makes the playing experience very good. In addition, the gameplay is again realistic, but great for beginners.

Gran Turismo Sport also offers a driving school in which new players can learn the tricks of the subject. This explains how to take certain turns and when you need to take gas or just brake on certain pieces of circuits. Each challenge has certain scores you need to get to be appreciated, being bronze, silver or gold.

Once you have your digital driver's license in the pocket, it will be time for real work. You can get started with missions, fight online with others, or drive a few circles in virtual reality. Certainly, Gran Turismo Sport supports the PlayStation VR, although mode is quite simple. It is only possible to record offline against a single opponent.

Focus on the multiplayer

A lot of pity, because the game looks like VR as beautiful and former racers as Driveclub VR have already proven that the medium is very well-matched with racing games. And so it actually feels like the rest of the offline content too; it's kind of crazy. Although Gran Turismo Sport has some content in addition to the driving school, it is limited to a number of missions and a section that makes you familiar with the various circuits in the game (17 in total).

This is due to the fact that Gran Turismo Sport's focus is very much on the multiplayer, something that also came to light in the game's beta. Sporting is an important concept. You must even follow some race etiquette before getting online. The game is strictly regulated, just like on the real circuit.

Riding each other from the job is bad and severely punished and affects your sports level. This degree gauge, along with your driver's level, is used to match you with other players, thus picking all sour apples from the harvest soon. It has to be said that the system is not a complete failure test.

Not without beauty flaws

For the most part you can enjoy intense online races in which everyone respects each other. Even though it will ultimately mean that you first come across the finish line. Regardless of your performance on the circuit, you are constantly rewarded by the game. Each race gives you in-game credits that you can spend on new cars. You get experience points that raise your level and release new cars and you get Mileage Points awarded depending on the distance you traveled.

With these last points, it is possible to buy cosmetic adjustments and to pimp your cars a little. This allows you to give your bolides just that extra bit of personality. But also through daily challenges, you regularly release new content and despite the lack of more offline content, there is still a sense of progression in the game.

Conclusion

Gran Turismo Sport is certainly not a bad racing game, but one with a somewhat nasty aftertaste. Audiovisually, the game is outstanding and may even be said to be the top of the offer at the moment. Additionally, Gran Turismo Sport races back and grabs everything, thanks to the driving school.

The online component of the game is also very well developed, with a profound system for finding the right opponents. Unfortunately, this system does not work completely flawlessly and sometimes you get an error wrongly. In addition, the offline content is quite in number, and the game sometimes does not feel as complete as the racer could have.

Pros

➕ Audiovisually beautiful
➕ Race well away
➕ Races in virtual reality

Cons

➖ Lack of offline content
➖ Online referee not flawless

Thanks for your precious time.
