How to make eSports a real paid job, as a true sport?

What we are talking about?

Linking to previous post https://steemit.com/blockchain/@lunarain/how-we-will-use-blockchain-to-dramatically-change-the-gaming-industry, we are making a bid that gaming industry can be dramatically changed, but we have one huge unresolved issue. How to make eSports a paid job? I mean how to make blockchain mechanics to be used as a trustworthy commodity for eSports gaming industry. There is no such things a virtual items value except customization, which are giving value only for certain type of players.

For sure MMORPG's with grind, it is a nobrainer choice for blockchain technology, because we met a clear path for a use-case there is a trading between players and a grind as a Proof of Work for creating token value and assets on other hand.

But what about eSports?

eSports, Shooters, MOBA, RTS - are a typical eSports disciplines. In general we can monetize customization and cosmetics - but, it is very narrow auditory for a complete trading ecosystem. In such games we met one very important feature, we don't get anything for getting most awesome frags or wins. We cannot setup progress and economics in the way we can do with MMO games - where from one side we get resource and it is consumed by players in the game. Because it is not a progress based games, we are staying in core-loop forever without any value except growing player skill.

Imagine that we have 10000 monthly active players, 2% of them purchasing some hats (say hello to TF2), it means that 200 people every month purchasing some stuff in middle transaction size of $5-10, which is $1000-2000 profits, doesn't sound right, yeah? Trading and transactions also wouldn't enable a big motivation and profits for a game developer and for player as well, because there wouldn't be much trades and they should be rare - otherwise they wouldn't have any value. It can be scaled, if you have a lot of players as in League of Legends, Counter Strike and other eSports games, but on low amount of players or in growing community you, as a game developer and a player, will get nothing and wouldn't be so much involved. It means that the game wouldn't receive enough cash to share with players as well.
But we have few solutions, how to make eSports more competitive and attractive.

Tournaments

Yeah. Tournaments. The place where thousands of players are going to spend all their entire time to skill-up their mastery, but in 99.9% cases they receive nothing. For sure you have heard about International Dota 2 and $10M for a team, but let's be honest 18 teams - 90 people + their managers and other staff, that how it works, the luckiest of most talented have an opportunity to compete with others, this isn't sounds great at all. There is a lot of local tournaments, but it is also not so easy, and prize pool is much lower. So, there is a way how to create eSports Tournaments economics, where people would be able to earn on tournaments and get a profits more or less stable?

What, if we give opportunity to purchase not just a hats (it is a general word for all cosmetics in such games), but get a ticket on few games at tournament, where developer have 30% and other 70% are spread between teams and players in proportion like 30% / 20% / 10% / 5%, etc? It would cover general prize fund for a week, this will be a real motivator and, quite possibly, a fairly stable salary for a lot of teams, and will also raise the overall level of the game. This mechanic is also suitable for strategies and MOBA. Of course, the possible problems arise if the teams meet in the rank battles, but then the community can completely self-regulate such situations, moreover, as a team manager, I can train my team and sponsor the team in tournaments for a percentage of winnings offering them free entry tickets and a stable salary.

For example we have 10000 players who want to participate in event, everyone for example, pays 10 dollars, and gets the opportunity to win 30000 dollars for a team for the first place. But that's not all, and the tournament fund can be much larger. Only 50 bucks for a team to win 30000, sounds great, yeah?

But it is not over.

Bets

https://Dao.casino, has an excellent mechanism for implementing bets in the game. Let's say that if you do not want to participate in a tournament as a player, you can change your funds to the game's crypto currency and place a bet, you can make a fairly simple analysis at the very beginning of the tournament, which itself prompts odds for the teams - even if you do not know much about the game. This is where the real eSports begins, and not what is happening in this area now. Of course, the problem of match-fixing is possible, and so on, but I think it will be easy to solve this issue too.
But the main thing is not this, the main thing is that some of the profits from this money will also go to the tournament fund, so maybe your 50 bucks become 50-100k per team?

User Generated Content

Sprites, taunts, skins and in general anything that makes the game beautiful, can be made by community and it also can be sold or gifted in tournaments in the game - in this way we can create a separate niche for players and the community, where both parts receive a money for their job.

Sponsorships

It's most simple here - the special branded tournaments by Razor, Intel and whatever else you want, where sponsors add money to the prize fund.

Why is blockchain can be interesting for this?

There are possible models of the game, where players themselves are interested in investing money and time, for not just as entertainment, but as a job as a professional player or coach. Games where tokens are limited and game have good mechanics with a token deflationary model will be quite easy to attract money for crowdfunding, before the game even made, making a good game will also be much easier knowing that there is funds and demand. Demand for tokens will be created by selling tickets, customizing and rates.
