Since the late Seventies and days of Pong videogames have come a long way, becoming more and more a part of our everyday life, nowadays everybody's playing online shooters and racking up hours of frustration on Candy Crush. But back in the day you needed to wet the appetites of your potential customers, who at the time were predominately children, and what better way to advertise to kids with deep pockets than the pages of their favourite comic books.

Lets's take a butchers at some of those vintage beauties...

Just got to love when they put in a drawing for where a screenshot would go lol

It also makes Empire Strikes Back look better than it actually was.

Most of these were just at the wrong time or on the wrong system for me. I lament not having a MOTU 2600 game, but I vividly remember playing the Star Wars cart. Even as a little kid, if you weren't very good at it, it was rather repetitive and forgiving.

My friend had Empire Strikes Back, it was the pride of his Atari collection. But then he was also a massive Star Wars geek growing up.

I didn't even know there was an MOTU game until I discovered this ad, if I'd had an Atari I'd certainly have tracked that down.
