Numer 5 - Disney’s Aladdin

Let’s start with my most shameful game I remember – the first one I ever cheated in – so at number five, we can find Disney’s Aladdin. From what I remember, this game had two different launchers. One that launched the regular version and one in which you were invincible and had infinite apples to throw. And as a 6 year old kid, can you guess which one I played the most? Yes, of course the normal one!
But seriously, I actually remember preferring the normal one. Of course I did occasionally played the easy cheated one, but that would not be as often as you might think.

Number 4 – WolfenStein 3D

At number 4 it’s the one my parents didn't like me playing. WolfenStein 3D. And they didn't like it for obvious reason. It was about killing nacis. But I was a boy. The idea of running around this ancient fortress and just straight up fighting the bad guys was a concept I already fully embraced at that time.
For the time, absolutely awe inspiring graphics with a core game-play loop that is satisfying to this day. What more can a little boy want.

Number 3 – Whacky Wheels

Now the game I actually played with one of my parents – more specifically with my father – it’s Wacky Wheels. This blatant rip-off of the concept behind the original – MarioCart - was still fun for me. And at the time I had no idea that it was a ripoff, it was just a fun racing game that allowed good times to be had with my father. I remember us playing in split-screen and it was just awesome!
Plus in how many games do you get to shoot hedgehogs at sharks!

Number 2 – Grand Prix Circuit

Next up is another racing game. That to be honest wasn't that good, but it’s main tune is just stuck in my head forever. It’s probably the earliest melody I ever remember. Todotodo todotodo Todotodo todotodo. But otherwise it just your generic racer of its time. There were a few different iterations with motorcycles if I remember correctly.

Number 1 – Sid Meier's Civilization

And the last game I want to talk about is the one that had the biggest impact on me. Sid Meier’s Civilization. I remember spending hours in this game, not having a clue on what to do to play it properly. But man was it fun! Then once I got older and I was still playing this game, I started to understand the concepts a bit more, I remember me playing as the peace guy and my cousin as the war guy, trying to make the best strategy.
And I even play this game occasionally today on my netbook when traveling. But these days I have one precise strategy involving play with on 4 civilizations in Earth mode as the Aztecs and developing this one super awesome killer city!

I had many favorites but the one that is still a favorite after 15 or so years is Diablo II
