Retro Classics!

Something you can't deny is the nostalgic effect playing a retro classic game has on you. It's brilliant. Lately I've been playing some great Golden-Oldens and it's motivated me to do a blog on the 7 retro games I'd love to see a modern remake of. So please, sit back, have a drink and enjoy the ride! Keep in mind - There is no specific order!

#7. Donkey Kong

My favorite Primates in the gaming world. The Kong Crew are the tits. All their Retro titles were so much fun, from the arcade original to the DK Country series (My Personal Favorite). Everything was on-point in these titles, from the music to the graphics. I need this modern remake!

#6. Space Invaders

Could you imagine a modern reiteration of Space Invaders? This title has had so many copies over the years but it really needs a high budget +++A Release that tries something a little out of the box. The possibilities are endless and when we do finally see a decent version released, i know it will come with massive Hype!

#5. Double Dragon

1987's best selling game Double Dragon was a brilliant platform fighter where you could team up with a buddy and kick some major butt. This game saw worldwide acclaim becoming one of the most popular games of the 80's and was still played well into the 90's. A modern remake of this could see some real interesting things. I hope it happens.

#4. NBA Jam

Me and my Cousins use to play this one as kids all the time, now before you jump down my throat, i know EA recently did this title a few years back. But it wasn't right. It didn't have the heart or style of the retro title. When it is finally done right, gosh it would be a fun game to play!

#3. Prince Of Persia

Prince of Persia is a 1989 fantasy cinematic platformer that brought a fast paced and challenging game to us. It's been years since a remake of this was made. With todays technology though, a remake could possibly become something larger than the assasins creed series. Don't forget the PoP is the AC predecessor.

#2. Out Run

1986's absolute mega-hit Out Run was the best selling game of it's year. This game employed an AWESOME soundtrack and is still used today by filmmakers in films set in the 80s. This game is iconic and a remake is a MUST.

#1. Pac-Man

Pac-Man is a Japanese arcade game released in 1980 by Namco and published in North America by Midway and possibly the most successfull and well known franchise of all time being played by billions of people since it's inception in 1980. Although we've seen remakes time and time again of Pacman, I need to see something new, something in the same universe but implementing new mode/gameplay styles and more. Without a doubt it could rise to be one of the greatest games of all time!

Conclusion

Throughout my time using the platform I've noticed there are people driving the quality content we see in the trending and hot pages. These people are part of the reason that Steemit is a remarkable platform. Not everyone likes to curate or even use steemit for it's true purposes, these people do.

Nice.
(I was once involved in a port of NBA Jam (but it didn't out too great ;) ))

Haha! Damn, you must be smart to be involved in that kinda stuff! Go you @xaero1!

Was it a port to PC?

Don't want to say, as it was not great haha....but no, it was not the PC :)

Hahaha, fair enough! Thanks so much for checking out the blog and contributing to the discussion!

But they already remade Prince of Persia

Let's see. There's a stellar version of Donkey Kong called Remix. Meant to be played on the original arcade game and if you're lucky enough to own a DK machine you can swap out boards and be up and running in no time. But if you don't own the arcade machine with a bit of work you can play it in Mame.

Pac-Man has had many modern do-overs. Check out Pac-Man 256 or Pac-Man Championship Edition for starters.

Space Invaders has also had it's share of makeovers. But there's one coming in just a few weeks that might be of interest. It's called Space Invaders Extreme and will be available on Steam, and not Steem.
