Not That Way! MonteCrypto - The Bitcoin Enigma - My First Impressions
I was quite excited to play this game when i saw it was coming out a few weeks ago, so when i saw it was out today on steam with a 40% launch day discount i thought i'd better get on it. €1.19 after the saving and with 1 whole bitcoin up for grabs, it was looking like about $11k of easy money to me.. and having spend about 7 hours today running around a maze in circles, I can safely say I thought WRONG!! There are 24 puzzles to solve if you can find them, with each one revealing a word. The Prize for the person who finds all 24 words is 1 Bitcoin. Those 24 words are the passwords that will decrypt the bitcoin wallet that contains the prize.
If I hear this guy say "Not That Way" one more time I'm going to break something.
You start out in a room in the middle square on a map of 25 squares connected (or not) by mazes. corridor after corridor of them. to get out of the first room after reading the instructions it's fairly simple, 3 doors open up which are each a different entrance into the maze. each of these entrances has a painted coloured line on the floor which each lead to a room. a one hour timer starts counting down when u enter one of the doorways and the map fills itself in as you go around. when the hour is up the game resets and you find yourself back in the room in the middle.. this isnt really a problem as you can still work out all the words, they don't get reset or anything..
following the blue line leads to a room where you have to jump across some rocks and at the other side the word 0 construct is on a stone block.
I managed to work out a few of the other words and then i had a look on the MonteCrypto Discord channel, and unsurprisingly those guys are well onit, they've made a list of all the info that's been found so far.. this is looking like its going to be a team effort.. not sure how the prize will work then, but i guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.. i don't think it's going to be soon anyway.. it's VERY HARD!! and i like to think i'm quite good at puzzles too.. :S
This was found in the server room after listening to the 8 servers and working out which order they go in to make a sentence.
i keep finding compasses that make the screen flicker a bit matrix style (one on the window sill in the starting room) and there's quite a few skulls around the mazes that say stuff.. it's all rather confusing really.. I think everyone needs to have a go and see if you can find anything helpful.. it's only a coupla bucks, what are ya waiting for?!
