First off let me get this out of the way when I say Indie game I mean a game made and published by a developer that is not part of a AAA game company. There are a lot of good Indie games out there and I haven't played all of them. Everything on this list is my opinion and if you disagree with my opinion that sucks because I am not going to change my list. Alright now we got that out of the way lets start listing stuff.

10. Super Meat Boy 

               If you like getting pissed off and want a ridiculously hard platformer game this is without a doubt the one for you. In Super Meat Boy you play as a Meat Boy and you need to save your pink meat girlfriend from the evil guy that takes her. Great cute cartoony art-style and ridiculously hard levels. This is the most difficult platformer I have ever played and I have never beaten it. It is on my list because I love the pain of dyeing after jumping through 30 saws and off of a million walls to get murdered by the chainsaw mech that is closely stalking you. But it is awesome when you finish a level and you get watch all of your attempts at once which looks like thousands of meat boys getting slaughtered by the environment except one, its hilarious.

9. FTL: Faster Than Light 

                      Faster Than Light is a really fun rogue like, space ship, strategy game. It has really unique game-play where you must upgrade the ship, manage crew, make tough choices, and fight enemy ships and decide where you want to hit them. This game is really addictive and really hard sometimes because there are more than one ways to lose, you can die in combat obviously or you can mismanage your ship and run out of FTL jumps and get stranded in the empty vacuum which is space. There is a lot to this game even though it seems simple and it is definitely worth getting.  

8. FEZ

                   FEZ is a world turning mind bend that will make you go wow. FEZ is a puzzle platformer where the world can turn to reveal more platforms and pieces to the puzzle that you need. This game is really thought provoking and may require some youtube tutorials to figure out, but for some reason it is relaxing and fun. FEZ is great if your looking for a cool puzzle game. 

7. Prison Architect 

                 Prison Architect is a prison building and management game that is a ton of fun. In this game you need to build well laid out prison with everything you need to keep the criminals in and you also need to keep them happy. If you don't meet their demands they will begin to shank every prisoner and guard that comes in their way. This games is really funny and addictive. It is also hilarious to make your prison so bad that everyone fights each other and the last man alive will be alone locked away in a prison. 10 out of 10 would design prison hunger games again.  

6. Mark of the Ninja 

                   Mark of the Ninja is probably the coolest stealth game I have ever played. You play as a bad ass ninja who can sneak past guards from rooftops or through underground vents. You can take the less honorable route and murder every guard that gets in your way. As a ninja you will have cool smoke bombs and gadgets to evade and murder enemies. Mark of the Ninja is the best 2D stealth game I have ever played.

5. Hotline Miami 

              Hotline Miami is arguably one of the most violent and bloody games I have ever played. Hotline Miami is a 2d game where you walk into rooms full of guys and you bash their heads in with doors or throw a golf club at them. Seriously this challenging game is amazingly violent and that is why I love it so much. There is not many games where you can take out your anger on rooms full of people by slaughtering them like the pigs they are. There is surprisingly a lot of strategy in this game, different masks have different abilities and there are different approaches to levels. Please just buy this game it will make you very happy.

4. Papers, Please 

               Papers, Please is probably the most unique game on this list. It takes place in a cold war era like setting and your job is too check out peoples papers to let them into the glorious country of Arstotzka. This game is amazing it has a really neat story, great characters, and unexpected puzzles. You need to make sure bad people don't get into the country but there are many choices and you need to pay attention to detail if you want to be good at your job and get money to feed your family which is not easy. This game has great art, music, and great everything, it all works really well to create an original indie game masterpiece. 

3. Limbo

 

                 Limbo is a creative puzzle platformer that has a really dark and mysterious atmosphere. Limbo's haunting environments are actually beautiful. You play as a little boy who is looking for his sister and you wander through mysterious lands in order to find her. Limbo gets its charm from the use of the environment in the puzzles. The environment is your friend as well as your enemy. All environment enemies and ropes and ladders all have the same shadowy dark look so they blend in well. You need to figure out what to use without dying which makes Limbo a really impressive game. 

2. Thomas Was Alone 

              I don't know why but I just connected with the genius in this story rich square platformer game. This game believe it or not has a fantastic story event though all of the characters are simple geometric shapes. Its brilliant there is a British narrator who narrates the thoughts and moods of all the squares and rectangles as they all meet each other and throughout the whole game. This adds a whole hilarious sense of characterization to a simple looking puzzle platformer game. This is a must play in my book it is hilarious and you actually emotionally connect with squares. 

1. Rocket League 

                 I know I forget this is an indie game because it so popular and amazing. Rocket League is probably my favorite game ever I play it all the time and it is my most played game on Steam. It is a rocket powered car soccer mix of addictive awesomeness. That is probably the best way to explain it. The strategy and the skill Rocket League requires makes it so much fun even if you don't have skill or a strategy. Rocket League is best with friends and it is number one on my list because it meets the definition of an indie game and its my favorite game
