Resident Evil 7 Theory: Ethan is either in on it or the dumbest man alive

Take a good look at this image. Take it all in. Imagine yourself in the Louisiana Bayou crawling to get under this...home made sculpture of saw blades and cow quarters rotting in the sun for no clear reason. Actually imagine you received a call from your missing spouse and you know she is in that area and this is the first obstacle you run into.

Most of you would be dialing 911. Most people would have called the police BEFORE they got to Louisiana. Some might have called or stopped by the station as they came in:

"Hello, my wife is missing, have you guys seen or heard anything? She said she was in this area, I intend on checking it out, perhaps you'll send some officers out that way or with me but if I don't come back shit is going down right there."

Ethan, despite possessing his cell phone in working condition the entire game does none of that. He was even speaking to a friend on the drive to the area but doesn't think to give that friend an update:

"oh shit my wife is crazy, bitch cut my hand off, some old dude punched me and now this weird ass cannibal family is calling me Daddy and they tried to feed me human guts".

or you know what would bring a lot of cops out really quick[spoiler]

"yeah you know that deputy that called in? These crazy rednecks killed the shit out of him, cut his head off with a spade, you can find the body in the garage that's on fire with the exploding car in it, seems like this is one of those Bioweapons situations you should probably call STARS"

but Ethan just goes through the Resident Evil story choosing not to loop in anyone from the outside world until they show up at the end.

Naww son, people don't operate like that unless they have something to hide. I mean even today, I gave a stranger a ride so they wouldn't freeze but I didn't do it without letting a friend know, writing a description of the person..just in case..and even live tweeting it.

Because ya know if the worst happens you want at least to have some clues for the sake of justice and closure...unless Ethan is in on the whole thing. Let's look at some facts:

  1. Mia contacts Ethan talking about her Babysitting job, which is code for protecting an asset.
  2. Mia obviously is an agent of some sort. She has experience with Bio-weapons and small firearms.
  3. She tells Ethan not to come look for her. Why/How would an everyday Average Joe fella going to find his wife who was in the middle of an ocean? Someone who had connections might be able to figure out what had happened but for most of us if our wife went missing on a confidential bioweapon delivery job that's a dead end.

Along with this Ethan for an everyday joe familiarizes himself with both firearms and the idea of fighting EVERYTHING fairly quickly even for a Resident Evil character.

Ethan Winters knows how to mix chemicals. In the game, he shows the ability to mix and create items through chemicals. Most people can't handle the ratio to make Kool Aid properly but Ethan can make medicine, types of ammunition, and even serums. How does he know certain chemicals and how does he know what it could possibly turn into? Where in the world did he possibly get that knowledge?

This is kind of crackpot or maybe a possible retcon by capcom we can expect soon but an Ethan W was listed in Wesker's files as a level 9 scientist

We don't have the FULL story on resident evil 7 right now and probably won't until the DLC is out, then Resident Evil 8 and probably 9 fill in the gaps. My point is right now from the way Ethan performs in this game he's either the dumbest person in the world or one of the smartest and there's a lot of cards he is keeping close to the chest.
