SKY FORCE in Review

in #gaming8 years ago

Remember Galaga and the multitude of up scroller games that were popular in the 80s? Well here is one that brings some of the old gameplay style back with the addition of some new features to keep us playing.

Skyforce was a free for PS4/PS+ members a couple months back and this game along with another version tI believe are $9.99 in the playstation store. The descriptions that the store has shows it was a highly rate game. For what its worth I think the type of game is over prices when not free but the ratings are good for what it is. I hate complaining about prices and I do love free games. I would not have paid more than $2.99 for this game because it is not a huge game to me.

Although I may not be a big fan of old style games other than RPG games this game was fun. It had many features I liked. First it was a skill based, top view, scroller game. It was a shoot and dodge game just like many classics from the 80s. The graphics are well done for the game type. But here's where the features make it good. It has options that can keep you playing just to earn points or stars to upgrade your aircraft. These upgrades are anything from shields to weapons to bombs and health. There is a main game mode and a tournament mode. There are trophies of course that you want to earn and unlock. The base challenge of all the levels seem to have 4 parts other than survive. First destroy an percent of enemies, second destroy all enemies, 3rd rescue all people and 4th was don't get hit. This isn't to bad and seems the same for all levels I have played so far. Naturally the 5th option is to complete all the levels and collect as many stars as possible to unlock and build a better aircraft.

The game itself worth some playtime especially if you want to play and have a limited amount of time to get your game in. It will pass time just as well sitting down for short play or long plays. No story to the game really but it does have some good challenge concept to playing. I say give it a try if you like old classic style games with the beefed up graphics. You never know you could be one of those great players that excels in the game from start to finish and beyond.

Here I have attached a recent video with review I have done through some gameplay footage. You can see exactly what we are looking at for the basics of this game.

Love this game. I believe there's a decent version available on Android as well.

On a tablet this might have play value to me. I rarely play the game but it does pass time well.

Raiden V is available on PS4 and XB1, if you like vertical scrollers.

Not a big fan of these types of games. I write and review mostly from a neutral standpoint. Besides I am stuck on some bigger games but had to take a break and play something different and write about it.

That's fair. I have a penchant for bullet hell games, so this one is right up my alley.

Awesome! I might have some others I will be doing write ups on in the future maybe without video but we will see.

Not really much of a gamer, but that doesn't mean I have not heard about them before. Skyforce is a good game but is basically overpriced at the Play Store.

Over priced is my only complaint of being a hard core gamer.
