Speaking of Classics: Shadow of the Colossus
Hey Steemians, how are you? I am Jacks and we are welcome to a new edition of Speaking of the Classics, this time we are talking about a title that is a classic in the world of video games, today we are talking about Shadow of the Colossus.
Shadow of the Colossus it is a classic, a real jewel in the world of video games. And for this last one it is so difficult to talk about this videogame, taking into account the great amount of articles, essays, books and documentaries that have been dedicated to this masterpiece, I do not know if anything I say is enough, to be at the height, but I'll try.
Shadow of the Colossus is a videogame essential for anyone who considers himself a gamer, a video game that is considered as cult among the members of the community and that remains in the memory of all those who have played. The latter is perhaps because of the minimalism of the game, since being a completely minimalist title, it ends up being an incredible video game because of its history.
The story of Shadow of the Colossus is to some extent inspired by David's story against Goliath, and it follows from that literary code that many of us already know; the path of the hero. The history of this video game is a complete epic in the style of ancient Greece.
Wander is a young man who wants to resuscitate the love of his life, Mono. He decides to take a trip to a temple that is located in the forbidden lands, where Dormin is located, a deity capable of giving back life to those who have passed away. Wander asks Dormin to give Mono his life, this Deity ends up accepting Wander's request, but before he must defeat the giants that live in those forbidden lands, something that will not be an easy task for a simple human like Wander.
La historia descripta de esta forma podría sonar algo simple, y aunque lo es de cierto modo esta termina siendo una autentica Odisea, que sólo Wander podría superar gracias a su fuerza de voluntad.
Something that has always caught the attention of Shadow of the Colossus are the giants themselves, because in video games of this style there are usually small enemies that somehow protect the final bosses, but in Shadow of the Colossus such enemies do not exist, it is only Wander against those huge creatures. And is that after all these creatures are not just the final bosses, are colossus with great power that stand in the face of the desire of the protagonist to resuscitate Mono, since they are ultimately sacrifices, we have to kill him and see them fall.
Wander is aware that what he is doing is wrong, but for Mono he is willing to do anything. The latter is not necessarily expressed in words, but it makes us understand when those dark entities leave the corpses of the colossi and persecute us, and that after reaching us they end up going through Wander's body in a violent way, which leaves him unconscious.
Wander's story is an epic tragedy, he was part of something much bigger than himself, something he did not understand. I accept the request of a "Deity", decided to end those giants that lived in the forbidden lands in exchange for the latter to resuscitate Mono, the love of his life, but the price that he would have to pay would be enormous.
Shadow of the Colossus is a minimalist video game with a compelling story, a true classic and all of us who play this game remember it with a lot of love. Undoubtedly Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best videogames I've ever played.
And you, what do you think of Shadow of the Colossus? Leave me your opinion in the comments, do not forget to vote this post if you liked it, well I'm Jacks and see you soon in a new post.
Shadow of the Colossus is a remarkable videogame. Like one of those books you have to read, one of those movies you simply have to watch, but more importantly, one of those games you have to play.
I feel like at the time this came out, it ended up defining the basis for what open world games would be in the future (Looking at you, Zelda.) And many games have tried to imitate and even surpass it and build on it. I think that's what defines a great game, something that inspires other gamers and developers to be like that or even better.
That's why I think Shadow of the clossus is an unmissable classic.
Great review, dude! Keep it up!
If I also feel that I influence videogames like The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of Wild, in terms of combat mechanics and also in other aspects. And yes, it's definitely classic, and thanks to you for the bro support
Anyday buddy! I really like your content so keep it up!
Thanks!
I love your reviews Jack they're professional level quality and certainly a huge get for the Steem community.
I'm glad that you like what I do, a hug for you and good nothing, be attentive because soon I'll start uploading much more content, I hope you read it @negativespace
I remember reading about it in gaming magazine way back. I wish it had more like side quests or customizations for your character.
I think the videogame is fine as it is, it is not the typical RPG videogame, it is a videogame that tells only what is necessary and thus it is incredible, although of course there will be those who prefer to include that kind of things, but I think that in this particular title is not necessary. Thanks for your comment, greetings
