The adventures of Luppy - Project Idea #2

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

This is the name of a game that I started to build a few months ago. The game was being developed for PC, XBoX One and Ps4 using Unity5.

The Story

Luppy is a dog who was born in a black and white world called Animus. Everyone lives in peace in his small town and it seems to be a very safe place to live.

His adventure starts when he goes apple picking with friends and he gets lost.

He sees this black mud next to a tree and decides to go check what it was. Behind the tree he finds someone who is about to die. The person asks him to continue his journey to bring everyone's memory back. He didn't understand whose memories were those, but suddenly the almost dead person touches his head and Luppy starts to feel energy flowing in his body. The person disappears and he loses his vision for a few seconds. When it comes back, the world is totally different.  Everything was black and white, but all the trees, bushes and even his shirt were green. His memory was also back and he could remember that everything used to have color and that one person is responsible for stealing the color from the world: the general governor.

The style

The game would remember a bit the design of FEZ.

The idea would be to unlock all colors so everyone would be able to see colors again.

Unfortunately I stopped coding the game because I started freelancing so I got lazy to continue after that.

What do you guys think about this game idea? Would you play a game like that?

Hi! I find the concept really interesting. I like the idea of returning the colors to the world.

However, I think that games nowadays really need some cool and relatively fresh mechanics to stand out from the crowd. Especially if you're hoping for PS4 or XBox market. Don't you think so?

Unless, of course, you're aiming for game that is pure platformer gaining interest with it's story and aesthetics, not gameplay. It might work then ;).

Have a great day/night :).

Thanks for your nice feedback! You are right about that. I think the same way. It needs to have something else for the mechanics. FEZ was really nice with those 2d to 3d view. There's the other Indie game Braid with time travel.
This one I was expecting to have a nice story and things that would remember a little the old Megaman for supernintendo.

Thanks for your comment.

Yeah, Fez and Braid were both pretty interesting. I also instantly thought about Trine when talking about platformer mechanics. Games like this can be cool, but still Limbo and Inside had no special mechanics and as far as I'm concerned were absolutely marvelous.

I am looking forward to next post about the game ;).
