Upcoming PSN Releases: Mid July

These PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation Network video game release date pages highlight all of the confirmed games and DLC coming out during mid July.

• Orcs Must Die! Unchained (PS4 – PSN) – July 18
  
  Unchained is a variation on tower defense games, where the player places traps within the game's levels and engages in direct combat with a selected hero characters to ward off several waves of orcs and other monsters from reaching a magic core. While the game was available to purchase during its beta period, Unchained was released as a free-to-play title with a meta-game for players to earn in-game currency and upgrades through successful matches to improve traps and acquire other items and attributes to support their character, or which they can buy directly using real world money.

• Destiny 2 Open Beta (PS4 – PSN) – July 21 to 23
  
  Destiny 2 is an action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system. In the cinematic campaign, you’ll enter a world filled with compelling characters and fight to take back our home. Battle alongside friends with multiple cooperative modes or challenge others in intense multiplayer matches.

• Aven Colony (PS4 – PSN) – July 25
  
  Set on Aven Prime, an alien world of deserts, tundras and wetlands light-years from Earth, Aven Colony is a rich simulation of an extra-terrestrial colony. Build, customise and maintain your settlement, manage your resources, encounter a variety of alien life forms and look after your citizens – all while dealing with the challenges of life in an entirely new solar system.

• Fortnite Early Access (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – July 25
  
  Fortnite is described as a co-op sandbox survival game and is about exploration, scavenging items, crafting weapons, building fortified structures, and fighting waves of encroaching monsters. Players will work together to scavenge items they can use for building by day to build their fort, and by night defend it from the zombies for 14 days hence the title Fortnite. Building will be a core mechanic in the game, and there will be "a lot of loot" buried within. Players can build and edit each wall of their fort with a 3x3 grid, lay down stairs, roofs, and windows, sculpting them to suit a particular need.

• Mafia III ‘Sign of the Times’ DLC (PS4 – PSN) – July 25
  
  A string of ritualistic killings has New Bordeaux on the edge of terror. At Father James' request, Lincoln agrees to hunt down the cult responsible, a quest that will take him from the dark heart of the old bayou to the drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city.
